hopefully auto start stop goes away. the EPA should try to regulate private jet travel before road vehicles. while we're dealing with paper straws and auto start stop, after the super bowl, multiple hundreds of private jets flew anywhere from tens of miles to thousands of miles back home and put so much CO2 into the atmosphere. i can't find a solid number, but i'm seeing estimates anywhere from 500 tons to 3050 tons just from the jets leaving. there's no logical reason to have auto start stop on road vehicles considering how many are fairly efficient inline 3s, inline 4s, and V6s, and performance V8s like the Mustang and Corvette are outliers in this

Interesting question. I wonder if they eliminate this also, but then again: it’s a revenue maker so it probably will stick around.
LOL, spending was over 7 trillion for FY 2025, and projected to be more in 2026, with $43.5 billion in debt added every week so far in FY 2026 (remember, the fiscal year starts on October 1 of the prior year, so we are 4 months into FY 2026), so, yeah, they are not giving up that revenue.

Vote for Democrats, get higher spending. Vote for Republicans, get higher spending. 🤔

Groan.

Now that’s funny 😄 Regulate a form of transportation that is used by the 1%. You have a better chance of getting a Mustang that can do the Nuremberg Ring in six seconds for $50k.

Wow, someone who gets it. Bottom line is we all get screwed either way. The game is rigged.

yeah, trust me, i know its not gonna happen. would be nice if it did, though. unfortunately, they almost certainly have enough lobbying power and money to make the EPA turn a blind eye

More like Mae the EPA continue to turn a blind eye. It’s not like the EPA hasn’t always carved out a nice space for private air travel to play in.

LOL at anybody in just 1% having a private jet. That is like the 0.00001%

Can I have my $1000 gas guzzler tax back, then? Had to pay that since my job 1 '24 didn't come with AS/S. Still salty about it on a car that gets a a rated 24 mpg on the highway, but I am glad I don't have that stupid feature on my car.
my 2007 GT 500 had a 1300 gas guzzler tax. Start stop is not the reason for it.

My '26 GT is scheduled for production the week of 23 February. Hope it won't have auto start/stop, but it probably will. My '24 has it and after more than 20,000 miles, I still forget to turn it off most of the time.

It is not on my car. It is on my wife's Explorer ST.
It is not on my car either. I have a 2024 Mustang which arrived on the dealership lot in November of 2023. I think some of the early Mustangs did not have this feature.

On the other hand, my wife has a 2020 Ford Escape, and it does have the AS/S.

I think eliminating Auto Start-Stop is great. Now we need an OBD2 plug-in to defeat the feature in our cars. Over the air updates won't work, nor will Ford do it. It's time for reasonable pollution standards instead of spending billions to get another 1/1000 of 1 percent of CO2 or NOx out of ICE vehicles.

Anyone with any manufacturing knowledge knows this isn't really going to mean anything. Regulations may change but manufacturers do not have the ability to just turn things on and off. It makes for good headlines but, for all intents and purposes, meaningless.
