I am considering it on my 2025 darkhorse.

Just a side note. If you are going with the Stage 1 (warranty) it doesn’t have to be a Ford dealer. You just need to have it installed by a ASE certified tech (shop).

I went stage 2 and installed it myself, almost 2 years ago now. I think a stage 1 kit would be a regret.

top speed limited, less aggressive shift schedule, lower overall power output and less boost/bigger pulley, also you really want to get the cats off and get headers on there… stock exhaust could likely be a huge mistake as well.

This has been discussed here and other places ad nauseam.
General consensus is stage 1 is a waste
Stage 2 is reliable, but of course you can always blow up your car. That's N/A, stage 1, stage 2, etc.

Nobody has regretted it, other than not having grip or destroying other parts once you start pushing past base stage 2.

if youre new to this all then get the Stage 1, have an ASE certified tech install it and enjoy. 815 hp is still a lot of power to learn to handle and can still spin the tires very easily. top speed is limited to 160mph so unless youre doing half mile drags youll pretty much never see that

Nothing wrong going with Stage 1. Still a lot of power and one man's nirvana is another man's ho-hum.

I have never gone over 150 in my Procharged GT (It's not top speed limited) and never will, so the top speed thing is a moot point, IMHO.

815 horsepower is a waste? :giggle:

And here I was writing Whipple to ask what is the largest pulley I could install to keep CHT and oil temperatures down a little on HPDE track days.

(the answer is 4 inches)

Don't apologize just because of one grumpy poster. Asking questions is a good way to learn.

Speaking of questions, what is your proposed use of your Whippled Dark Horse? Just cruising? Drag racing? Circuit track events? Autocross? Drifting? Street roll racing (you hooligan)?

Do you have the handling package, or is this a non-hp car?

the only issue I am aware of is with people running them long and hard at near full boost, resulting in the cats melting.

If you are not going to beating the snot out of it doing road course track days or competing in NASCAR events you should be fine.

The Ford Performance kit is designed so as not to have them writing checks for warranty repairs.

As others have found out by going Stage 2 or using different pulleys, there is still more power in that engine to get , and many people have done it without parts failing, but the FP kit is pretty safe bet.

No complaints here. My daily driver, completely street-able stage 1 Whipple non-PP car is more than plenty of fun. She’s taken me on 1,500 mile road trips and shocked the heck out of more than a few high-hp cars. Never gotten her above 130 mph and don’t intend to. I don’t beat on the car but I also don’t baby it. I work from home and only drive the car every few days and it’s nice to know she’ll always fire up and won’t give me any issues. 16,500 miles so far. I can’t imagine driving a stock 5.0 any more.

Waiting on FP to release update fix to Whipple and gas pedal issue. I've had mine stick a few times exactly as the notice describes. Interesting experience especially at WOT, Not :(

At this time patient due to car garaged for the winter.

Don't be sorry. No dumb questions. I have had a Ford installed Whipple stag 1 for about 18 months no problems no regrets. When I get past the warranty stage of 3 years I will upgrade to a stage 2 and put long tube headers on about the same time.
