Why does it come with 2 catch cans now from Ford Performance? Is it due to the dual throttle bodies? The S550 / GT350 came with the passenger side.

Because Ford (and all manufacturers) can take care of the issue by routing the vapors to the intake to be burned off and meet air quality standards. Since many people have a difficult time doing minor maintenance, they know that the average owner will never empty the catch can if they installed them at the factory so the car wouldn't meet air quality standards in a short time. Then the fines would be assessed against the manufacturer for the fleet not meeting the standard. Why is it that you need one, yet it is not supplied from the factory?
So the motors are still the same as prior years with the PCV. It pulls air from the driver side into the motor and out the passenger side. The drive side will mostly stay dry unless you have a lot of blow-by. Doesn't hurt to have though. Why does it come with 2 catch cans now from Ford Performance? Is it due to the dual throttle bodies? Simple answer. It's illegal to have fuel and oil mixture to be stored outside of a motor so it's an EPA thing. This is why on some of Fords manuals, they suggest you add one as they can't new.Why is it that you need one, yet it is not supplied from the factory?
So the open breathers I ran in the 80s and 90s, and the hose down to the header to draft vacuum from the valve cover breather as some ran, probably are a no go from the factory by Ford?Simple answer. It's not the fuel/oil mix but the crankcase gases (leftovers from engine combustion) that aren't staying in the engine. The whole emissions thing...Simple answer. Actually, using the engine vacuum to pull out excess gasses from the crankcase is one of the few bright things the government did. Not only for the environment but for our engines longevity too.The EPA is......you fill in the blank. "has too many employees making up things to do."
