The M2 sounds it's a great car if not for the steering and feedback. I realize MPS4s aren't a sticky track tire, but they shouldnt neuter the stearing feel like that.

And too bad its butt ass ugly. What in the world is going on at BMW styling these days? 🤦‍♂️🤮

I love the way my M2 looks. I get a ton of compliments. First thing out of their mouth is, "it looks a lot better in person".

Also the steering feel is better than the S650 I drove with the PP or my S550.

First of all, it's not that I don't believe that the claimed 486. That's also something I never said. I said Americans like to advertise high numbers and Europeans like to use numbers a driver should expect.

Second of all, HP is a general term, it can be literally everything, BHP, WHP, DIN or PS.

The most important thing is that Mustangs are measured in BHP, also in the United States, but they don't say BHP and only use the term HP.

BHP is measured at the crank. So even when American Mustangs don't use the BHP term but the general HP term, they mean it is measured by the crank wich makes it 486BHP.

Lastly, I'm sorry, but I really have a problem with this way of thinking by using exceptions to say that there are also European cars that make false HP claims.

What you did right here is an exception fallacy, using an outlier to define the norm doesn’t prove the point.

We are talking in general, that means we are talking about what European car brands in general do vs what American car brands in general do.

With your way of thinking, there are always a way to find exeptions on both sides.
Don't take it so seriously. The Jag example was of the old days when car makers lied through their teeth. They were so bad it was laughable. There's no way I'd use that as an actual example.
I could also use the old European system of rating horsepower by capacity. EG, Ford Ten, ten was the rated horsepower. But it actually wasn't, it made 30HP.
Down here Mustangs are advertised with 362KW not BHP, it varies from country to country, but the measurement protocol is the same.
The bottom line is that 486 or 500 HP from a 5 litre mass production engine is bloody good.

It is so good that it is almost unbelievable and would not have been something we could have imagined back in the 80s and 90s, especially with a smooth idle.

Ghost cams, lol

It's a remake of the old joke, why do BMW's have big nostrils? Because air's free

Smooth is the word, sits at 630 rpm all day long. Well, 30 mins anyway.

Anyone have experience with the depreciation on M2's or M240i's?

Seems like a good alternative/competitor to our Mustangs, but my understanding is BMW depreciation is one of the worst, so I'd hate to lose $30-40K after a few years.

Mustang likes to make the numbers higher than they are.
BMW likes to make the numbers lower then they are.

That's the whole point, which makes me conclude that Americans like to make things look better than it is, while Europeans want to make it at least look just as they advertise it
Yeah, right, European, in particular German manufacturers, made emissions of their Diesel engines look like they were as advertised ... wait, didn't they have to pay Billions for wrong advertisement after the system of their fraud was uncovered?

Every company has a skeleton in the closet.
And trying to find a way to best advertise a product doesn't seem to be an American exclusive in my eyes.

Not on M cars. I bought my 2024 M2 for $63K, it stickered for $65K. I got $1300 off of MSRP and $750 Military Veteran discount. I have had the car for 1 yr...Carvana offered me $58K for the car and my by out is $56K. When I see that 2020 M2s are still selling for the high 40K range to the low $50K range for a car that is already over 5yrs. old. They are holding their values nicely. I can't speak for the 240is.

Oh we jumped from horsepower and why Europeans are faster to emissions. Maybe let's go talk about car jacks and tinted windows.

+1.

As of right now, I would give the edge to the G87 M2. If Ford incentivized the DH so its market selling price was below $60k, I would give the edge to the DH.

No no, you were writing "Americans in general", "must be an American thing" and so on.

Admit it, now that you moved to Europe, Europe must be best 😜
