S650 Mustang ZR1X is fixin to run 6:49 at the Ring 1753997218062-y6

Link (800 laps), Wallace (425 laps) and Cattell (600 laps) have extensive experience behind the wheel on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, and have gone to the Nürburgring a combined 31 times to develop and test GM vehicles. The track offers unique road dynamics that challenge both the drivers and vehicles, and it is an important part of tuning Corvettes to deliver the on-track performance our customers expect.

Link, Wallace and Cattell are among the most seasoned Nürburgring-certified drivers at GM – with a combined 36 years of experience working on Performance Cars. Wallace also leads GM’s high performance driver training program.

Goodbye, GTD: The Corvette ZR1X Is the Fastest American Car Around the Nürburgring
Chevy brought out the Z06, ZR1, and ZR1X, along with a trio of development drivers, to showcase the Corvette's prowess on track.

Those times put the ZR1 twins in fifth and seventh place on the all-time list for production cars around the 'Ring. First place in the category is a lofty 6:29.090 set by Maro Engel in the Mercedes-AMG One. Most important for Chevy, the pairing is squarely ahead of the company's crosstown rival, the Ford Mustang GTD, which was driven to a 6:52.072 earlier this year with professional driver Dirk Müller behind the wheel.

Did you watch the video?

That driver is not losing 20-30 seconds to anybody.

Brian Wallace is not a professional race car driver, but he is certainly no slouch and is familiar with Nurburgring.
Time will tell.
Have you seen the Porsche 919 lap? That was super human.
I get the impression that the 'Ring is a bit like IoM. In MotoGP Rossi was/is the GOAT, but he said he'd never ride at the TT.

sorry guys, ZR1's are available to order at multiple dealers for MSRP right now. Takes a BIG deposit.

Exactly. Anyone who can run a sub 7 minute lap at the ring can hardly be considered a slouch.

Post a link then, I can’t get past them hanging up when I ask to order at MSRP with no history

Worse than trying to buy a Rolex Daytona…
I think thousands will find themselves on a list and never actually own a ZR1.

Plenty of Daytona‘s on the grey market but there costly. I wonder how many future ZR1 owners are going to flip them?

just go to Corvette Forum in the ZR1 section. Lots of dealers mentioned that are selling at MSRP. I think McMulkin and Ciocca are among them.

I'd love to see some accurate sector times from these cars...ZR1, GTD, GT3RS, etc. Be interesting to really see the strengths and weaknesses of all these machines throughout the track. I'd love to see tire temps and pressures, too...

I gotta' be honest, I think Chevy did a great job with their cars, but this really does reinforce how well the GTD can move around a circuit. With a 200+ horsepower disadvantage and a weight penalty of 300+ pounds, that pig can really rip.

As previously mentioned before, though...the Viper ACR Extreme running a 7:01.XX is still nutso to me. I thought the Z06 would be a lot closer to the Viper, but it was a mauling...from a classic front-engine, MANUAL transmission car, no less...

I absolutely love the shootout going on right now. I honestly hope both manufacturers keep coming back over and over.

I saw several sections on the ZR1 and ZR1X's laps where time could be made up, particularly in the braking zones, but the drivers were without a doubt very experienced.

What were track conditions like on the vette runs?
