I have the temp set to LOW

This is the issue.

If I set to LOW for temperature, my car will do the same thing.

Is 64 degrees not cool enough? 66? 69?

I only set it on LOW if my car has been baking in the hot southern sun and I need it to cool off quickly, then after a minute or two, I adjust it back up to 69 or 70 and let the system do its thing. It is for the reason you have learned, LOW cranks up the fan full blast.

BANG ON! That'll do ya! That's what I've been trying to explain. Being in AZ you guys must live with frantically blowing fans a lot. Anyway, glad you got a handle on it! I hope Sinthor 5.56 reads your post and Kevi's post. Glenn
Yes! I get it now. I've just fundamentally misunderstood the functions of these "Auto" settings versus the "Max A/C" and all that. I get it now and it makes sense. I need to actually USE the temp control rather than setting it on the lowest because I assumed that would make it colder. Well, I mean it will, to an extent but I get what you all are saying now. Thanks for all the help and info!

Thanks again to everyone who replied about my A/C question. I just never realized how the AUTO function is SUPPOSED to work on cars. I picked her up from the dealership today though, and on the way back, moved the temp up to a more reasonable setting and sure enough the fan gradually lessened, even with the "high" or "medium" level settings engaged. Still seems weird to me that this is how it works but the "low" setting still slows the fan dramatically even with the lowest temp setting selected, but it is what it is. I see how it is meant to work and of course the biggest deal is that I DO NOT have a problem with my brand new car. Which is a relief! :)

Thanks again!

I haven't paid enough attention to the working of the climate controls... I leave the auto fan @ 2 and temp @ 72... car is always comfortable. I do notice the fan initially runs at higher speed if the car sits in the sun all day... once it cools off the fan reduces speed.

In my daily driver there is a max auto speed setting... low, med, high (not sure if the S650 is that way or not)... the fan only runs at that speed or less for most normal heater operations, but if set to "low" or "high" instead of an actual temp, the fan runs full speed regardless of the max speed setting.

Interesting. My Mustang is a 2025. What was really throwing me off was people saying that the fans would run high or low depending on the temperature, but while the first two settings were blowing on "high" apparently to me, the 3rd setting WOULD just blow much lower speed. Which seemed at odds with the "It manages the speed on its own," idea. I STILL think that is weird. I mean, why even HAVE the three settings if you really only need two- a 'high' and a low? Or just one setting period....AUTO, and it does it all on its own after that. So..odd. But bottom line that IS how it works, so...is what it is! :)

I guess I always thought of the 3 settings on the auto mode button as 'max fan speed' setting.

If 3 lights are on, the fan is allowed to run as fast as it can, when this is required to bring the interior temp of the vehicle to the desired temp. And that it would eventually slow down to the point where it is simply trying to maintain the desired temp.

2 lights allows the blower motor to only run up to a moderate speed, again reducing its speed once desired temp is achieved.

And one light only allows low fan speed.

This seems to corelate with the owners manual, although the manual does not explicitly state that this setting a max type of thing or that the fan speed will be reduced once the cabin reaches the desired temp. It does however say that depending on whether you are trying to heat or cool the interior of the car that the fan speed may be reduced until the temperature of the air coming out of the vents is either warm or cool.

I guess I'll have to try and pay a little more attention to it...

You are correct about how it works, except there is a fourth setting when you set the temp on LOW that is even higher fan speed.

See, that is what confused me though, because at least while the car is trying to reach the desired temperature, there is ZERO difference between how much the fan blows between the 3rd and 2nd settings. In the LOW setting, it does finally and dramatically reduce the fan speed, even though the temperature desired has not been reached. So that's why I was thinking there MIGHT be an issue.

It's reassuring to me that I'm not the only one confused by how this system works. Great explanations guys! I tested yesterday and it works as others have explained. I'm a happy camper now!

I know, right? Thank God for the internet and people who actually know shit! lol. Made me feel pretty damn stupid, but very glad to know how this works now...for ALL my cars!

I think it uses a similar protocol to my home inverter heat pump. It will maintain auto temp, but I can alter fan speed to keep noise low, or put it on auto fan.
Our Skoda also has a fan speed setting for climate auto setting which keeps fan speed either low, med or high.

Has anyone had issues with settings not saving? It's been almost two months now and periodically...for unknown reasons, my ambient lighting color resets to the default Amber like color. In the first week, my other color settings would reset as well. It's been a while since I noticed this but sure enough, this weekend when I got in, I noticed it was orange again when I had selected blue. Just seems like some of the settings don't hold for some reason!

Interesting! Mine did it earlier but stayed as I programmed for the past several weeks. Sometime this past weekend it changed to ORANGE. Now that’s crazy.
