Perhaps, apparently the core structure is still made of steel as well, so if they made that out of aluminum? But again, that would be very expensive. Ford's CEO as a car enthusiast himself knows how important saving weight is, and has said he wants the make the mustang lighter. We'll see how successful he is.

I personally think a good goal to strive for is we know long term the mustang is gonna be a hybrid. Nothing wrong with that, perform hybrids are awesome to drive, but hybrid systems add weight. If they were able to take enough weight out of the car so that after adding the hybrid system it only weighed about as much as a current gt, that would be a massive win.
Drop the hvac and it’s drag around load, use petliers in the seats and vents instead?

Getting back to the topic at hand of mustang styling, here are some more ideas. If they wanted to pull more inspiration from the 90s by designing something with a lower nose, and more rounded styling, I wouldn't mind if Ford made something that looked like this Toyota.

Yes, I know, saying that would take inspiration from 90s mustangs is pushing it, but that inside source I quoted said if it has 1994-2004 styling cues they would be subtle. Plus this looks better than most of the faithful new edge inspired renderings I've seen.

Lol that looks like some futuristic European super car. I don't see the 90s anywhere near that.

Here's a rendering someone did of a modern design inspired by a fox body, really not feeling this one but it visualizes what a modern fox body would look like. I really hope Ford doesn't go in this direction because that looks just as bad as the original fox body lol.

I...kinda like it actually. The front bumper area is a little busy, but I think it could work as is or with a notchback/hardtop body style.

Boost I swear to God don't encourage them 😂. If Ford makes the next mustang look like a fox body, I will... buy an s650.

Read my post again please. The insider I quoted said if it had 90s styling influence, it would be subtle. Which means there's a good chance it'll be things like reviving the more rounded 90s shape, and lower front end instead of introducing a mustang that looks like a 90s mustang in 110% scale. It's not gonna be a super strong resemblance. Plus that red rendering looks better than anything we actually got in the 90s.

You gotta think like a designer and ask yourself, if I was asked to modernized the essence of something, but do it better, how would I do it? That rendering is your answer. You take some broad ideas like the more rounded styling, or lower hood and front end, but reimagine them to make them more enticing.

If you say so. Taste is subjective.

I think you'll like this, shared this sketch before, it's from the actual designer who sketched the s650. The more upright roof, more compact dimensions, and the lack of a large upper grille are giving me modern take on 80s/90s vibes. Even things like the line that flows from the hood and then drops down and goes under the side glass looks like a fox body. If it was more like this, I wouldn't mind it but I'd still rather see this as its own thing, like the design for a smaller, more nimble mustang to slot below the full sized coupe.

It is but if I showed a 90s design and that concept side by side, most people on the street I'd wager would prefer the looks of that concept.

I'll ruin that image even more for you, at first glance I thought I was looking at a modernized Toyota AE86 Corolla Levin/Sprinter Trueno, but with Mustang design elements.

That is so weird how you also see a bit of AE86 in the fox body design because so do I 😂. I thought I was the only one!

I get where you're coming from, but I personally believe the days of highly affordable sports cars, especially ones with V8s, are in the rearview. With that in mind, I believe Ford should turn it's attention towards trying to stabilize mustang prices instead of dropping them, perhaps by sharing its platform with a sedan, drastically increasing sales volume, and getting economies of scale working in your favor.

If Ford can stabilize prices so at least they level off for a little bit, and gives us a more exotic, daring, bold design that makes it easier to justify spending a lot of money, that will help the mustang out. I also personally believe having more mustang models that specializing instead of trying to have the mustang be all things to all people in one car could benefit mustang moving forward.

What about a full sized V8 mustang that appeals to traditionalists who want a V8 mustang with a shit ton of power, and a smaller EV coupe, the mustang designed to be super affordable and meant to be the mustang for the next generation of young enthusiasts. Ford's next gen compact EVs using that platform are supposed to start at 25-30k new. What about a 250 hp 25-30 grand mustang for people who want something to mod, that looks cool, and is fast enough to make it interesting?

Young people are far more receptive to EVs, but have no cool EVs with aftermarket support. Ford could sell a compact mustang that appeals to them, that they can actually afford, and that offers a shit ton of accessories, think like the slate truck but in coupe form, to really boost profits.
I don't know that price is as much as it's made out to be. Expectations from a lot of young people (and others) are out of line and people aren't managing debt well at any age right now. Interest rates have been much higher too.

Too many kids think they should come out of college with a 500hp Mustang to sport around in. I came out of college with an economy car I wrote a check for at 19 y.o. and paid my college with no debt upon graduation at 22 y.o. Not many people worked like I did either then or now. I spent summers offshore and banked money while living small. My wife and I stayed away from debt as much as possible, lived within our means and we could have bought any car we wanted earlier this year. We're nothing special, we just worked hard, smart, put kids first and do what we want now. The key word in all this is "work" and most people here likely know what it means if they drive a Mustang. No, they aren't cheap but they shouldn't be cheap. Just another opinion.

Electric cars are dead cars rolling. As far as the next styling, no more fake vents, scoops and lose about 700 pounds with more curves. Keep the power and V8. FD
