Ordered my tire from Automotive Authority June 24th. UPS says it will be delivered June 30th. That is a great turnaround. Bought a jack at Harbor Freight for $23 that should do the trick in an emergency.

Ordered a Modern Spare just now so that should take care of that. Hope for no flats but peace of mind is worth the cost. Thanks everyone for the help! FD

I ordered the one from Automotive Authority earlier this year for my old car with the big brembos. It's just sitting in my garage if anyone in Arizona is interested. My new car came with a factory spare.

Had I only known sooner I would have taken it off your hands. Mine arrived today. Very well packaged and it fits the tire well like a glove.

Do you know the weight of the spare and can you tell a difference in the way the car drives?

Thanks, FD

39.1 lbs. Yes I put it on a scale. If that small amount upsets the way the car drives then there is something wrong with the car. It sits very low in the spare tire well.

Thank you very much. I would think you would be right on how the car drives. Just checkin'......FD

I just test fitted my Automotive Authority spare ($459.99) on my 2024 DH. Since I have changed to 20” wheels with Michelin 305/35/20 A/S rear & 285/35/20 A/S tires, the spare is slightly shorter than my rear tire - 3/8-1/2”. Front pretty even. Does anyone think the rear height difference will affect/damage my rear differential? Hard to see (poor pic)

but visible difference if you look closely.
Also, instructions said to use spacer. However, using it did not leave much stud thread for the lug nuts. I didn’t use it & looks like plenty of clearance for Brembos & front suspension at full wheel turns. Pics with finger are rear. Still learning how to add attachments & label properly. Sorry.

That seems like a large difference. I wouldn't drive any distance. I would move both front tires to the rear. Two different size on the front would be more forgiving.

Thanks. But, can’t put front on the rear due to different offsets & tire sizes. Staggered set up.

If you get a flat on the back you take and put the spare on the front. Then put the tire from the front you just removed and put it on the rear flat. Then Take the other front and move to the other rear. Now you have two tires of the same same size on the rear. Its kind of more work but you won't take a chance of differential damage. You will also need either another Jack or jack stand when you do this as you will have two wheels removed at the same time in order to swap the two good tires.

I green tire slime mine. They're staggered, so I'd have to get two spares. I believe Ford now has a spare kit that fits cars with Brembos. There's a few companies that have them to fit your cars configuration. People with base 18s just purchase an extra wheel and use it for five tire rotations. Tires last longer. But I doubt the spare well fits larger than 18s. Tire slime will save you a headache, but it's not full proof.
You don't need two spares for staggered. The spare will never be the width of either tire anyway. It's the outside rolling circumference that matters, and the Modern Spare listed above works great regardless of wheel size.

Never had a reason to need spare tire in about a year
My 2011 M3 didn't come with a spare (or a place to put it), but that didn't prevent me from buying an extra wheel that hangs on the garage wall with a mounted tire in case I get a tire failure catastrophic enough for the tire goo to be insufficient. It is nice that the Mustang actually has space for the spare.

I'm sorry to revive this ancient thread, but I'm trying to get more clarification. I used to have a 2020 Mustang EcoBoost and I added the Ford OEM spare tire kit (FR3Z-1K007-C). I just got a 2024 Mustang GT/CS with the non-performance package, four-piston Brembos this week and was looking to get the spare tire kit for this car. According to the Ford site, the kit is only for vehicles up to model year 2023. Will the kit work on my car since it doesn't have the six-piston Brembos from the Performance package? Did something else change with the S650 cars, wheel offset or lug nut type? I have looked at the aftermarket options, and they really don't look better than the OEM kit if you have the smaller brakes. Has anyone tried the OEM Ford kit on a 2024 GT?

I can’t answer your specific questions, but, I think the price of the Ford unit is similar to the aftermarket ones. And, you can call them & they will confirm that it fits your car. When I purchased mine from Automotive Authority, they asked if I had a Dark Horse, implying that there might be a difference. It fit when I received it.
If you still have the spare, just test fit it on your car to see if it clears everything.
