I think you'd have to be a fool to daily a car like you described.

If you want to daily it get a low spec premium gt for 46k-50k.

If you want to build a supercharged track car get a base GT and supercharge it. Put a real track suspension and wheels on it. You can do way better than the PP for way cheaper.

If you want to spend a ton of money on a track car you're also going to daily go ahead and try it but good luck. You better start with a pimped out dark horse and good luck keeping the engine alive past the warranty period. Not sure what kind of extended warranty you're going to get.
Yeah i am pretty stubborn lol. i appreciate your insights though, i shouldve done more research before wanting to track it, just wanted to take my dad out once and probably be the end of that. probably wont track it then to avoid doing anything to harm the car then!

i have heard and watched several videos of people with the whipple who are dailying it saying its running great as a daily, just treat it right, and also adding some cooling mods as well. But i think i wont track it then just keep it as a daily and have fun on the streets going to and from work lol

It's not for everyone but you can get a lot of used modified car for half of what you would spend on a new S650, blower kit, and mods...

At 20, putting $30-40k in a retirement account would be such a huge head start and spend $35k on a supercharged car...I mean that's still kind of dumb but at least you're starting a nest egg

Now that's the best advice I've heard yet. The earlier people start investing, the sooner they have the power of being debt free, having more choices, and being just able to retire. Feeling like one JUST HAS TO HAVE a GT at 20 y.o. is not exactly wise IMO. These are the years when he could be making huge money by working hard, as in offshore, for example (I made a fortune doing that during summers while getting a college degree). Graduated with money in the bank. Do that a few years then experience true freedom. Hard work is hard work. Smart, hard work is what really pays the best.

Im usually the guy that says life is short, drive what you like. But in this case it sounds like the OP has his mustang glasses on. If you want a supercharged Mustang as a DD, there are s550 versions out there that would cost you half the price. The other thing that's throwing me is why you would want a PP car as a daily driver if you never plan to track it. It just sounds like you haven't thought this whole thing out.

Yeah i'm realizing now im looking too far ahead and asking for way more than I can chew. I'll plan for my future first. The car comes second, def not something I need so I can always look at other options, probably just get a used mustang if anything.
i do have a retirement account open with one of my jobs, I'm still waiting on my benefits at my FT job to open up for their 401k, they match up to 6% i think which is pretty good, and also they give me a pension, like $6 or $4 per every hour worked i believe. doing my best to work on all that retirement stuff early, i'm into stocks/crypto, have a roth im putting money into, and learning to day trade on the side so i hope im on the right track with that. Not sure what other things im missing and should invest in at my age, but I definitely want to be secured for whats to come.

Thats kind of the reason I posted here, just wanted the opinions of others to get my mind in the right place, got a lot of thinking to do and sorting shit out for sure

Were I you, I would also get a 4 year degree no matter what it took. No, it isn't necessary to make a lot of money (and money isn't the only reason to get an education) but it sure does help if you major in the right thing for your aptitude.

An education, no matter what kind, is something that nobody can ever take away from you and it opens doors you can't even think of right now. If it meant going to night school, part time, took 10 years, I would do it.

I took a total of 9 weeks off from work and college in five years for a five year degree and worked over one Christmas offshore and I would do it all over again. I could write a book on what that did good for me. For what it's worth. I would not do student loans either. Sorry to be preachy.

My advice is wait.

$300/mo on insurance is very high. Get a reasonably cheap, used, reliable fun car. Insurance rates go down in time. A used Mustang is a good option and, admittedly, my dad's '14 GT is more fun than my '24. In hindsight, I might should have bought a clean 2014 GT instead. My brother recently bought a C6 Corvette so that's an option.

You want a 740 or better credit score if you're financing. Always heard you should have 6+ months on the job before any big purchases. No matter your age or experience level, things can go sideways. I've been laid off more than once. You need to be able to float your bills for awhile if that happens.

Living at home is a great plan. Saves a ton. That being said, do live for now. Take time off and enjoy your life. Take trips. I wasted my 20s slaving for companies that neither noticed or cared. The money wasn't worth it.

I think it depends on your income. It’s an amazing car, but I would buy a mostly base model if you’re going to mod heavy. If it’s going to remain stock and cash flow is rough, then finance a higher end model. Part of me wishes I would of got a gt350 but Indidnt want to pay that much for a used car so I went new

Hey all, i’m curious as to what your opinions are on this build and what you would do differently. I’m wanting to get a new Mustang, originally I wanted a wrx, but I just couldn't get over the mustang so now i’ve made it my goal to save up for it next year. These are the options I want to build it with. For the paint I want to go with the Molten Magenta Metallic Tri-coat, and the opacity fade strip down the middle. The 401A package and also the Performance Package, I mainly want to get the PP because it comes with the drift brake and i’m not sure how one would go about adding that later on. The Magne ride dampening, and the AVE exhaust. I also want to whipple supercharge it for that 810hp. The car would be my daily, and I want to keep it for years on end, with the goal of taking it to the track here and there to take my dad out for a run. What do you guys think? i appreciate any insights. Thank you!

After hearing and seeing that tracking the car would require a lot more things than I accounted for i wont be doing that and ill just stick to having fun dailying it, i would appreciate any recommendations on upkeep and maintence with the whipple as a daily though, any cooling itd need? many thanks, of course i dont have the car but I wanna make notes on everything to account for:).

This already is an excellent spec with the tech, style and performance, anything more is just pure gravy and more excitement.
I would recommend the manual transmission if you want that; but also the adaptive cruise control and the performance pack.

This already is an excellent spec with the tech, style and performance, anything more is just pure gravy and more excitement.
I would recommend the manual transmission if you want that; but also the adaptive cruise control and the performance pack.

The build sounds amazing. I just think it's incredibly impractical as daily driver. Theres obviously a lot you arent considering. And financially it doesn't sound like something you can comfortably afford anyway. Take a step back and think it through. You can get a really nice S550 with much of what you want. Maybe compromise and wait a few years until you get your dream car.

Pretty much my thinking minus the mods.
I'm off the depreciation water slide, and I'm going to keep mine for the foreseeable future.
Here in NZ it has a lot more presence/performance per buck than anything else.
Germans are common, Jap cars are a no no for me. (see the depreciation comment for both)
Apart from the fuel consumption it makes a lot more sense.
The only unknown is reliability, but it's a reasonably simple design, and there's aftermarket parts up the wazoo for them.

Yeah waiting a few years sounds more reasonable, ill stick with something less expensive but still fun to drive, possibly a cheaper stang or a wrx if anything, or maybe just play the waiting game
