Well, at around 1400 miles, I decided it was time to hammer the GT a little.

Took it out on a nearby non-busy four lane and ran it hard up to 150. No drama but didn't want to hit the governor hard at 155. It got to 150 in a flash. Oil temp. rose a little from normal but not much. Just coasted it down and drove it hard home. It did what it can do.

Were it not for the governor, the stock GT had a lot left in it I could tell. Got that curiosity out of my system. Just a Saturday morning drive. Oh, and yes, I suspect I did break the speed limit....again.....🤣

A great break in method! Lol. The GT excels in the top end so it does climb the speedometer pretty quickly for a stock car.

Scared the shit out of myself leaving it in M instead of auto by mistake. Bouncing off the Rev limiter in first gear is kinda scary.

I think my jeep will actually shift even in M mode instead of grenading the transmission. It just ups the shift point a bit higher.

Yeah, I can believe that. The Z06 I had reacted very violently when it hit the rev limiter which it did now and then.

I don't know what Mustangs do when hitting the rev limiter but after the Z06 experiences doing it, I really don't want to find out. Anyone have any insight on how violent or non-violent the Mustang reacts when hitting the rev limiter? Other cars I've had just shut down but not the Z06. It was a violent shut-down.

It's due in tomorrow.
For the record, my comment was a back handed shot at your break in method and the fact that a easy broken in engine usually consumes more oil than one broken in hard. We break them in on the dyno making WOT pulls and heat cycling the engines. Once we make several passes and heat cycles, the engine oil is changed and its off to the races - so to speak. They never consume a drip of oil after that.

My advice spend the next 1k miles hooning the dogshit out of it. See if you can salvage a "proper" break in. Ford's advice from the manual is sound for 200k mile longevity. But for normally driven vehicles, its going to consume oil and always be a tad down on compression v the alternatively broken in engine. Their advice is correct for minivans and appliance cars.

Not trying to be a dick, but when I read threads like this it makes me sad that its widely accepted to break in a performance engine like this, then have to rely on an aftermarket catch can to keep it clean for the foreseeable future. Good luck with it though, may your catch stay dry and unused.

Just for the record, my little drive today had nothing to do with break in and I break in cars my way which you know nothing about. My car has never consumed a drop of oil nor has any car I've owned including "the performance cars" I've owned. Ford makes catch cans and their use is debatable but that's another conversation.

No need for any more back handed shots at me, my car, or anything, or anyone else here. Don't be sad, things will get better.

I can infer quite a lot from that statement.
Correct, so you can continue making snarky statements to people from inference only. What a loser. 🤣
