I ordered two, each with a USB-A and USB-C. Flexibility is the name of the game.
Just out of curiosity, what do you plan on changing with those inside the arm rest?

Side note, many people don't know there is a USB port under the rear view mirror for radar detectors and dash cams.

Not sure. I will be cruising all over the country in this car, just like I did in my 2022. Might need to charge phones and watches (driver and passenger). Flexibility!

All USB C ports should be fast charge. The power plug outlets require an adapter to USB that typically is not fast charge.
Yes... but there isn't a usb-c in the console... I was referring to the S550 usb-a in console which charges @ a lower rate... and there are plenty of adapters that charge at faster rates available (though many are not... gotta read the specs).

An interesting point about the power port. When I first got my car, I started using the USB forward of the gear shift to connect and charge my phone. But then I started having issues with my Apple Car Play disconnecting while I was driving. Normally, I'd have to pull over and turn the car off to get it to reconnect, but sometime even multiple restarts wouldn't restore connectivity. I've since switched to using the power port under the arm rest and it seems to have solved the problem since my phone isn't connected through the USB.

Most likely the cord. If you aren't using an Apple or Samsung cord, the car play apps have issues staying connected.

Interesting. I bought a shorty no-name cord that I've been using, I'll try an Apple cord and see if it helps.

Yeah. Most of the no name cords are Chinese crap. They have to be rated for high speed data transfer in order for the car play apps to work right.

I had intermittent connectivity with android auto in my last car for months and couldn't figure it out. Someone told me to the swap cord for a new Samsung one, and sure enough, it worked perfectly after that. I had no idea cords were rated differently until then. 🤷‍♂️

Does anyone know if there's a way to disable the USB connectivity to Sync 4? Maybe with Forscan?

As I mentioned above, I've had trouble with my phone disconnecting from Apple Car Play, but the phone itself remains connected to Sync when I use a short non-Apple USB cord (8" long, 2.4A, 480 mbps, MFi certified). I really don't want to use an obnoxious 3' long white Apple cord to connect my phone to a USB port that is inches away. For the past month, I've been connecting it though the cigarette lighter adapter under the armrest, but that's not as neat and tidy as using the 8" cord, but at least I don't have the disconnection issues. I'm also considering installing the wireless charger, just not sure I want to spend $400 for that option, as I know others have had issues with that system.

Why not just buy a shorter cord rated for high speed for the USB port? There are tons of specific length and color options on Amazon.

I bought the highest rated cord I could find that was the color and size I wanted. That's the one I reported problems with earlier, and you told me that a brand name cord solved your problem.
