Not sure if this has already been posted here but @Epiphany found the GTD curb weight over on M6G.

S650 Mustang GTD Weight Revealed 1739556648731-jr

At 4,300 pounds, I'm no longer interested....not that I could afford one anyway. My vote just just shifted to the ZR1.

That’s ridiculously heavy, no matter how much suspension it has ended it.

All that expense and they couldn’t lightweight further? A lot of cheap-outs on this crazy expensicar. I’m pretty bummed.
Guess they thought they’d charge for the hype rather than what actually went into the car.

some people are paying over 400k for a pig. That’s not right.

the thing will just be shredding tires by the minute in the track.

What the heck.

I wanted so badly for this to be the end-all ultimate destroyer mustang that shuts the haters the hell up. Instead, it gives them more ammunition. Whoever put this together needs to start working on base model f150s. Get them tje heck away from any visionary, envelope pushing kind of efforts. They’ll just ensure it doesn’t go anywhere.

it cost ford customers $400k for a 2020 gt500 with a bit more power that handles a bit better. Chevy must be laughing their butts off, carbon fiber constraints and all.

just another reason ford needs to start from scratch with an all new, lighter, tighter platform.

otherwise, all the band-aids end up being saddlebags and the embarrassment continues.

I would love it if Ford made a new Mustang about the size and weight of the older Fox Bodies. Could have a smaller, higher revving V8. Would be an incredible driver's car.

Let’s don’t get our collective shorts too bunched up just yet. There has to be a mistake somewhere.

Just no way 4343 could be correct.

Smaller cars have tighter emissions regulations, which effectively makes a small V8 mustang unviable. That being said, a smaller, cheaper mustang based on c2 (Focus, bronco sport, maverick) with the 2.0 and 2.3 ecos would be pretty cool. The affordable small EV platform coming up for vehicles starting around or below 30k there's a compelling business case for that. Something affordable, stylish, and sensible that appealed to younger buyers who are generally far more willing to buy an EV.

Spit the mustang into more specialized models that can all be the best at one particular task, rather than trying to be this heavily compromised car that's all things to all people.

totally agreed. It would be a bit heavier now, but not too much. There are new methods of engineering available. It’s was pretty basic stuff back then.

the fox hatchback was decently roomy too.

Ford did that already with 3 different cars, all of them ended up dying.

All they need is enough ā€˜assist’ to give us 1mpg better and no more gg tax….

S550 GT500 was almost 4200, why not?
it was heavy, but we knew they wouldn’t go crazy lightweighting.

for a supposed ā€œrace carā€ masquerading as a street car, we expected FAR better. At 325k to start and over 400k with options,

turns out it’s just another SC s650 with the suspension from the 2015 Camaro z28 Bolton on. Gets the ring lapped just barely under 7, so that’s something at least. But not at all what the hype seemed to be. Multiwas all but guaranteeing it would surpass the gt3. Nope.

the whole s650 generation is feeling like one big grift.

don’t get me wrong, it’s great to have a car with high horsepower v8 potential. But it’s supposed to be a new generation. And this is just stretching out the 2015 car very thin.
