I don't know if anybody has had this issue, but I would like to share my issue and resolution in the hope it may help someone.
Since moving from the Karcher lance to a handgun I have been getting pulsing when using a Foam Cannon
After many weeks of researching, I have narrowed it down to the Brass Orifice in all three of my Foam Cannons I have.
I have a K5 Karcher at 2300psi 145bar this pressure with a handgun needs a difference size Brass Orifice than the ones I have, I think they are all 1mm.
I did try and drill them out myself but made two of them way too large anything over 1.4mm is now a broken foam cannon for the pressure the K5 is putting out.
I did how ever notice the thread on all three orifices was the same and it got me wondering if you can get Foam Cannon orifices from say Ebay and boom you can.
Guide here Foam Cannon Orifices: An In-Depth Guide – GarageNirvana
I have ordered 3 x 1.1m for $22 for now and I will try it out then purchase some more sizes and see how it works.
Oh I have three cannons because I have had one for about 10 years, then brought a new one to go with new handgun, then got the pulsing, then brought a third to see if it was the cannon sigh it was not.
I was purchasing stuff from carcareproducts, try all sorts of stuff over the years.
then went onto Bowden's yeah didn't impress me much.
now on Chemical Guys a bit better more to do with their youtube guides, playing with Jet Seal on my daughter's car atm lol.
once that's all gone over to Waxit

The 1.1 is suggested for most Karchers, so you that should have you sorted.

One other thing to watch out for when modifying pressure washers is to be mindful of nozzle and foam cannon orifice sizes. For a Karcher K2 or K3, you would be using the 1.1 mm orifice supplied with the MTM foam cannon (they come with one fitted, and a second in the box. Just make sure the 1.1 is fitted). For nozzles (if you go that way), stick with a 3.0 orifice for those Karchers to boost flow and tailor the pressure. If you use the smaller orifice sizes to boost pressure, you risk burning out your pump.

More here -
The Pressure Washer Spreadsheet
Hey @DFB5.0 my MTM 22.3 arrived today from Waxit and I thought I'd get a 1.1 ofifice with it, but reading their website again it cleary states that it comes with a 1.4 installed and nothing about a 1.1 orifice in the box MTM Foam Cannon Kit PF22.3 with Nv Snow 1L 2024 – Waxit Car Care. My confusion I think was the one from detailing shed does come with a spare 1.1 orifice :)

My question is will the 1.4 work with a Karcher and produce good foam or do I need the 1.1? The spreadsheet states 1.1 but just seeing what I can get away with until I can order the correct 1.1 orifice?

Cheers

Remind me again which Karcher you use?

The 1.4 would likely make sense on a high-flowing Kranzle, AR or Active machines. Having said that, I've been running the OG/DS suggested/installed 1.25 orifice with my Kranzle KHD/10. So, I'm a little confused why Waxit went with 1.4. All I can think of is they likely went with the 1.4 to play it safe for a variety of different machines instead of tailoring to each machine rather than run the risk of blowing up machines.

You won't cause damage by using a larger orifice, but if you go too small, it will cause the pump to overwork and potentially overheat motor or trip a breaker. Being that is safe to do so, I would just test the foam cannon and see what you get. It may end up limiting the production of ultra-thick foam due to the lower flow rates of the Karchers, so if that's the case, then go ahead and order the 1.1.

MTM Foam Cannon Parts – Waxit Car Care

From the OG store -

If you get the PF22.2 Foam Cannon from our store, it will come with a 1.25mm and 1.1mm orifice.

If you have a pressure washer with some serious performance (over 2.5 GPM) or need to lower the current draw of the pressure washer, you will need to get the 1.5mm orifice.

We now offer the 1.1 mm, 1.25, and 1.5 mm orifice for those that accidentally lost theirs and need a replacement.
I hope that helps. There is a lot to consider messing about with pressure washers and I too have had to play the trial and error game when came to nozzle orifices and fittings. Once you get the hang of it, you will be set.

Thanks mate it is the K2, I actually thought they come with the 1.1 as thats what detailing sheds description was, not realising Waxit only give you a 1.4...as you said I'll give it a go and see how it foams and go from there...at least it is a relatively inexpensive part.

You will only need to remove the inlet fitting to get access to the orifice fitting.

These two videos are worth watching, the first for rebuilding the PF22.2, the second has some insight into orifices (from about 2 min 30)-

Out of curiosity does a 1L bottle (10:1 ratio) on a foam cannon normally do 1 car or does it do 2?

I usually go up a little in the ratio because I like thick foam. So I usually put about 100ml of soap in my foam cannon, and then fill it up to roughly 800-900ml. Depending on the size of the car, there is almost always some left in the cannon when I'm done. Usually about 1/3 or 1/4 of the bottle which I just dump in my wash bucket for the contact wash.

Obviously if you use some of the Bilt Hamber products like Touchless, you need to be more precise with the amount of soap you use.

Also, you dont want to save any leftover mixture for too long. The minerals in the water will react with the soap so you wont get thick foam from the solution after a week or so if you were to save it.
