Hey @DFB5.0 with the car being detailed with Gyeon products they are saying I need to use the following as maintenance products, otherwise you risk voiding the warranty

GYEON Q2M Foam
GYEON Q2M Bathe
GYEON Q2M Cure
GYEON Q2M Silk Dryer

Is it fair to say that using the following products will do the same thing as I already have these products on hand?

Carpro Lift instead of Gyeon Foam
NV Snow instead of Gyeon Bathe
ADS Amplify instead of Gyeon Cure
Gauntlet towel instead of Gyeon Silk Dryer

It would take someone very uneducated or a hard task master to void a coating warranty from using high quality detailing products. They can't be serious about using a different towel, had to laugh at that.

I'm not sure of the exact details, but it's been suggested Gyeon and Carpro share some chemistry and/or manufacturing. So, here are my thoughts on the following products, and how they compare to the products you already have.

GYEON Q2M Foam - This is an alkaline pre-wash decon soap, as is Carpro Lift. Out of the two, I prefer Lift.

GYEON Q2M Bathe - This is a good soap, but I don't love it like I do Carpro Reset, and would easily prefer NV Snow over it too. All three are safe, effective soaps that work with any ceramic coating.

GYEON Q2M Cure - I actually really like Cure, the ADS equivalent would be their Ceramic Spray Sealant. However, Amplify would be a fine substitute, to the point where ADS use it in the same way as Cure.

GYEON Q2M Silk Dryer - This is a twist loop towel, which while highly absorbant, I find them grabby. The Gauntlet is a hybrid shaved twist loop that's by far the superior towel.

Not trying to discredit the installer here, but I regularly cross pollinate between ADS, Carpro and Gyeon. In fact, I prefer Carpro Essence over Gyeon Primer prior to installing a Gyeon Coating. Or Carpro Eraser prior to Gyeon coatings. Or Reset on Gyeon-coated paint.

As long as you are using good quality products, you are not going to ruin the coating. And at the end of the day, how are they going to know that you used something other than Gyeon?

Can you apply ADS Amplify to wheels, not the tyres but the wheels themselves, or should a different product be used for that?

I ended up working out a deal with the detailers and I'll now be covering the whole car with XPEL PPF. They wont do a wheel coating or do anything on the interior apart from a normal clean.
I'll do the interior and the wheels myself.

They're going to give me some complimentary Gyeon products which they recommend I use to maintain the car going forward. I'll give them a try and see how they work but like mentioned above, there is no way other professional products from Carpro, Koch Chemie, ADS etc, can damage a coating or PPF if used correctly.

@DFB5.0 , do you know what makes these PPF specific products? How much different could they really be to any normal pH neutral shampoo. Maybe they have some infused SiO2, but that could be used on ceramic coated cars as well so I don't really see what makes these special. The products they are referring to are:
- GYEON Q2M PPF Maintain
- GYEON Q2M PPF Wash

Looking at this video from Pan (I know not everyone's favorite) it seems for the soap, its really just a shampoo with a bit of iron remover built in.

If you are not going to coat the wheels, I'd suggest Gyeon Wet Coat as you don't need to remove the wheels to get the product onto the barrels or calipers. As the name suggest, this is a wet application, clean the wheels as usual and while still wet, mist the product onto the wheel face and into the barrel (3-5 sprays is more than enough), rinse with water immediately. Job done.

Wet Coat won't last forever, but the application is so easy that you can reapply as needed. You can then use Amplify on top of that if you like.

Also works on your exhaust tips too.

The other to consider is Carpro Hydr02 Lite. The Lite version is prediluted, there is also a Hydr02 Faom (its rubbish) and the Hydr02 concentrate, I've found the Lite to be the better way to go as its more stable.

I wish someone around here offered PPF, country living.

As for maintaining PPF, apart from a few precautions, you just treat it like paint. In other words, a pH neutral soap of your choice, then dry with your choice of air/towel/drying aid.

As for precautions, you just have to be careful around edges, be that with a wash mitt, towel, polisher (yes, you can polish PPF) or brushes. You also need to be really careful with tar removers, mainly because they are also adhesive removers. Apart from that, you are good to go.

There are specific coatings and maintenance products for PPF, but again, if you are using quality products, you don't necessarily need specific PPF products. Most end up ceramic coating the PPF (if not already impregnated with it), often with a normal paint coating.

Thanks mate, I’m getting the wheels and callipers ceramic coated so was more of amplify was good at being used just for maintenance.

It's perfect for maintenance. In which case, I'd probably break out the Wet Coat every few months to help maintain the barrels and calipers, unless you want to remove the wheels that is.

My Waxit Black Friday purchase. Only realized after the purchase that I also needed another 4-litre of Reset.

It's also great to see new Carpro products launched for Sema are arriving in short order. WheelX is a iron remover type wheel cleaner, it offering more lubrication that IronX alone.

If you have the time I'd be interested in a post showing a shopping list of basic care care/detailing products, for those with/without PPF and with/without ceramic and products for the interior (inc towels, locally available foam guns if necessary etc...)

I'm a newbie at proper car care and want to be prepped for when mine arrives, having a shopping list would be a great start - and would help the Mrs out when shopping for pressies
