Start and Stop, speeding, lane keeping, and the most annoying of all: the "Hands on the wheel" alert.

All these alerts drive me crazy. Even though some can be turned off at each startup, the most irritating one remains the "Hands on the wheel" alert, because it's always there.
Is there a way to disable it? ForScan or other tools... Do the US versions also have this alert? 🤯

Despite the negatives, on the highway, the lane keeping with adaptive cruise control is great. The car steers by itself, and it’s quite impressive.😎

I have a plain old Mustang Premium and the Hands of Wheel comes up button pushes or not. Odd me thinks!
That is odd. You should be able to turn it off. It would be a pain having to drive like that all the time.

I agree completely. Although we can turn off the lane centering function, I do like using it. The only problem is how sensitive it seems to be when the alert triggers. I can't tell you how many times I have my hands on the wheel with slight pressure around turns when that alert pops up to tell me to keep my hands on the wheel. My hands are already on the wheel! Always!

According to my sales rep, it's not a touch sensor, but a steering angle sensor that reacts as soon as it detects a one-degree movement. It's annoying because you have to make a steering movement every 15 seconds. The lane-keeping system would be perfect without this steering alert.

I've had this feature in other cars but the GT has a way too aggressive "pull" to it. My CX5 had the ability to set Strong - Weak parameters.

@Loucas @TimSez ......the keep two hands on the steering wheel also has a potentially SINISTER aspect. If we are in an accident that is not our fault will the car codes shared with insurance companies show we had been warned 50 times to "keep two hands on the wheel" and will that be held against us, I ask rhetorically - we have already been told that Ford along with GM and Toyota just to name 3 sell this information to two big insurance data collectors. I think this is a serious issue.

Is it more serious that it’s there, or more serious if you disable the alert?

@smurfslayer ..... great question. I have been told to completely disable it involves cancelling other telemetrics so you may not get some Ford up-dates. I think I inadvertently disabled my lane holding feature (which I liked) and that may have shut-off the "keep two hands on the wheel" and "I think you need a rest" comments. I was also very worried about the "you need to take a rest comment" as I had only been driving for about 30 minutes and that comment - if logged - could be interpreted as I was driving while too tired. I have no idea how that was calculated. I was glancing out at some go-fasts as we drove alongside a river.....was I moving the steering wheel making it appear as if I was sleepy and therefore drifting in my lane? I don't know. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I am concerned about my Mustang recording these telemetrics that we now know the vehicle manufacturers sell to data collection companies that Insurance companies purchase their clients "habit" information from. Brave new world indeed! :-(

My wife’s Lincoln barks at us once in a while about getting some rest. strangely, the lane keep is off by default and has to be activated on her car each ignition cycle.

Do American Mustangs also have the 'hands on the wheel' alert, or is it only for Europeans...? 🧐

Only if the lane assist is turned on.

I personally HATE the lane assist. I like to move towards edge of road when passing by big trucks going the other direction, to avoid rock hits. With it on , it fights you the whole time.

And I agree with you! I love using it but end up turning it off because the message is so annoying. Even with two hands at 10 and 2 give you the warning. Like somebody else said, maybe it will be addressed in a future update.
