For the $160,000 the Super Snake costs you could fill your garage with:Except the Shelby is quicker and faster than any HD.
Gonna be a bit hard to out perform it on anything that isn't a straight line for that cheap.honestly, this looks pretty underwhelming. sure, you'll know its a shelby, but its gonna be on par or beat by a supercharged GT that is 1/3 of the price and has more customization options
I get it, I wasn’t making a price equivalency, but rather that the HD is overpriced period, not just overpriced for what you get. I mean, it takes a lot to make a motorcycle with over 1000cc’s to go slower than 4.5 seconds to 60mph, but HD manages to do it- Vrod and Pan America excepted. For the $160,000 the Super Snake costs you could fill your garage with:
$20,000 Harley Davidson Softail
$30,000 Harley Davidson Street Glide
$90,000 Model S Plaid
$20,000 Suzuki Hayabusa
And heck, you could also buy a Mustang GT instead of 2 of the motorcycles
still, based on performance alone, i dont know who can justify 160k for a "performance mustang" that doesnt even have the diff cooler from the Dark Horse. you can fit 315s under the stock fenders no issue, and 325s if you dont mind the smallest amount of rubbing and poke. the hood is aluminum from factory. i feel like the magnesium alloy wheels are also a gimmick, because pure magnesium is 1.74g/cm^3, where aluminum is 2.7g/cm^3. obviously, they cant use pure magnesium due to it's reactivity, so they probably alloy it with aluminum, making it a weird middle child. it feels like the Shelby tax has gotten quite severe and they're just kind of adding nothings that sound like something meaningfulGonna be a bit hard to out perform it on anything that isn't a straight line for that cheap.
The supercharger and supporting power train components, aluminum hood, carbon fiber rear decklid, carbon fiber wing, forged magnesium wheels, Sure you can get those pretty easily. But they won't be cheap
The carbon fiber widebody front fenders allowing the car to easily fit 305s in front though may bit a bit harder to get.
I'd say closer to 2/3rds the price of the super snake to go blow for blow (cost of the car plus parts).
Oh don't get me wrong, this is definitely not a good deal all things considered. Especially when you consider that for this price you could get a nearly top spec C8 Z06, and that will run circles around the shelby on any race track and have a (arguably) better interior.still, based on performance alone, i dont know who can justify 160k for a "performance mustang" that doesnt even have the diff cooler from the Dark Horse. you can fit 315s under the stock fenders no issue, and 325s if you dont mind the smallest amount of rubbing and poke. the hood is aluminum from factory. i feel like the magnesium alloy wheels are also a gimmick, because pure magnesium is 1.74g/cm^3, where aluminum is 2.7g/cm^3. obviously, they cant use pure magnesium due to it's reactivity, so they probably alloy it with aluminum, making it a weird middle child. it feels like the Shelby tax has gotten quite severe and they're just kind of adding nothings that sound like something meaningful
agreed. power + tires =/= fast around cornersOh don't get me wrong, this is definitely not a good deal all things considered. My point was to just say don't expect to throw a blower and sticky tires on and be able to easily hang with a shelby GT around a track.
EasyGonna be a bit hard to out perform it on anything that isn't a straight line for that cheap.
The wing looks like a J.C Whitney add-on!
Cool now go look at what people say about the GT350 vs the GT350R on track or the GT500 vs the GT500 CFTP, and you'll see that power+tires =/= fast around a corner. Shelby does way more to the car that you'll have to do in turn if you want to match it on track.Easy
buy a base GT, whipple stage II, add headers, your choice of wheels and tires and any weight saving parts you want (driveshaft, tbm front brakes, k member, carbon hood/trunk...)
you do know that the "Shelby" that makes the Super Snake has nothing to do with the GT350 and GT500 that are designed and produced by Ford, right?Cool now go look at what people say about the GT350 vs the GT350R on track or the GT500 vs the GT500 CFTP, and you'll see that power+tires =/= fast around a corner. Thanks for admitting that you didn't actually read what I said.you do know that the "Shelby" that makes the Super Snake has nothing to do with the GT350 and GT500 that are designed and produced by Ford, right?
and you know the super snake doesn't include any suspension mods, right?
and you know the super snake only has "upgraded brake rotors" with the factory provided calipers and pads, right?
and you know there are none of the additional coolers etc you would get on the dark horse or Mach 1, right?
