I bought 2023 takeoff lighted sill plates for my base 24 GT. What do I need to do to get the lighting to work?

Some wiring... I believe that the base models don't have the wiring in place for this option... wiring skills and a schematic to find a place to tap into. You might take a look at the 6G forums as someone may have done it on an S550 (should be pretty much the same).

you need to wire it in to the dome light, the harness in passenger side kick panel. I did it to mine and the only issue is you get 1 color. my dome light wire was gray with purple line on 24

Has anyone done this where you have MyColor, so the foot well and door handle light up, but don't have the wiring harness for the sill plates? I would think you can tap into the same wires for the door handles in order to get the MyColor to work as well.

I know that this is from a while back - but I found out through ChatGPT that there are two kinds of illuminated door sills. Almost everyone you see on eBay is a single color, not RGB. So it won't work and change color with my color.

I uploaded a photo of mine with 4 black wires, and ChatGPT noted that it is a redundant 2 wire sill plate, NOT a MyColor sill plate.

Here's what ChatGPT said as directions to install them... apparently even though the plug is there, FORSCAN won't help because the 12v wire isn't energized. So thanks a lot Ford lol - can't just let us buy illuminated sill plates and install them in the existing harness. smh.


Again, I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but thought it would be helpful as I try and illuminate my door sill replacements!

So, side note. Even if your car is wired from factory, you may need to make a change in ForScan. I installed them on my '24 GT Prem and they refused to light up. In ForScan > BCMB > As Built, I changed 7B7-01-01

Old:
0040 0000 00

New:
0042 0000 02

Turn ignition Off. Turn it back on, Sill plates illuminate and are colored properly.

I am not sure. I would imagine the change enables power to the connector. I can't find a definitive answer. ChatGPT told me initially that no changes in ForScan would do anything. However, after arguing and finding the change, it states that this is what the changes do.

This is the actual feature enable

This change flips a BCMB feature flag that tells the module:

“This vehicle has illuminated scuff plates (door sills) and should actively drive that output.”

00 → 02 (last byte)
This is the configuration qualifier / checksum

This byte does not directly control a feature.

What it does:

Marks the configuration row as “feature-present and validated”

Updates the BCMB’s internal consistency check

Tells the module: “Yes, this feature flag is intentional and active”

This set specifically because the connector looked correct for MyColor. Thankfully it was the right set.

I found the ForScan info from I believe the Mustang6G forums.

I know someone that has figured out how to add the Ambient lighting to a base S650, which in turn with additional wiring should allow for MyColor lighted sill plates. From what they described, it’s additional wiring, connectors, and changing out the BCMB. I’ve attached the wiring diagrams from Ford for Ambient lighting if anyone is interested in them.

I look into the wiring diagram and my car.... it looks like 301A harness does not have the plate connector. The wire is there to the BCM except CLN52 (WH-GN) which need to be add. Add the wire and pin to the C2280D connector and tap wire to the other (below).

The door plate is wire to:
C2280D: pin 1: CLN52 and pin 27: RLN44
C2280G: pin 1: CLN53 and pin 14: CLN51

For the C2280D pin 1, the wire is not there in the harness so you will need to add the wire and pin into the harness.

You will need this pin to add to the header: 1924955-3 (I bought it from digikey)

Also need to buy 2 pigtail for the plate:
WPT-394 (around $30 each, need 2)

After installing everything, you will need to enable it from Forscan to enable the zone3
