Can we add illuminated door-sill scuff plates?

For those of us who don't have 401A, can these be added? I think it would be a nice addition for 50 bucks and free shipping.

I know sometimes the wiring harnesses are pretty much the same and then options are either plugged in... or not.

I also know it says "2015-2023", but they look identical to what we've got.

I could always pop mine off and look for an empty plug, but wanted to see if anybody knew first.

Yes- at least on a 301A - just did mine.

they plug in but will not activate (light) without programming from Ford or Forscan (I am assuming this is what is needed and not that the wiring pinouts are somehow different)!

Bump for an answer for everyone. Apparently, the ones being sold on Ebay that are take-offs are single color lights. There is no way to enable them in ForScan. Apparently the connector is there, but the 12v isn't energized. Potentially with a 401A BCM.

This is great info for all of us as I just bought a used one also off EBay I have a base model (301 A package ) but I do not have the plug-in setup I do have ambient lighting though but I remove the stock scuff plate and there is no plug. I guess I will just put them on with no lighting

The short answer is, no. That isn't the right way to go about it.

The Mustang has 3 different lighting "zones" for ambient lighting. The door sills zone 3 and will shut off when the door is closed. The footwells are zone 1 and are on when the light sensor on the dash triggers them. So if you tie them into the footwells, they'll be on almost all the time.

Ale_star (forget his forum name) wrote up an awesome document to help people out that don't have any ambient lighting. Its too large to upload here though because of the pics. I'll see if he's ok with me making a new thread and posting the steps there.

I want to do this so badly, but me and electrical work is like reading language i dont understand. I would try to do it if there is someone who can simplify this instructions even more Or maybe Andy can charge hourly for installation and like 50 forum members will be at his place in no time
