2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse
on 1/27/24, the first Dark Horse built was sold at Barrett Jackson for $350,000. Ford is going to be donating 100% of that to JDRF, a Type-1 diabetes charity. it's nearly fully optioned, just missing the 10-speed auto and carbon fiber wheels. 700A in Blue Ember with the appearance pack, recaros, handling pack, painted stripes, all-weather floor mats, and an MSRP just shy of $79,000

Not sure I could justify that much for it, but sure am glad that Ford Donates it and the buyers probably way overpay for it for the sake of charity. Someone will have a special collectable. Good to see it bring that much

2021 Mach 1 brought 500K...diminishing returns
The 2024 Mustang Gt went for 565K. These rich people charity bids are just that, they are not a reflection of what the cars are actually worth it's a tax write-off & a possible investment. It's only diminishing return if when the car is sold, they get less $$$ for it. The VIN 1 Dark Horse was well bought & could bring more profit in the future because of that.

Attached is the IRS reference.

"Donors who purchase items at a charity auction may claim a charitable contribution deduction for the excess of the purchase price paid for an item over its fair market value. The donor must be able to show, however, that he or she knew that the value of the item was less than the amount paid."

MSRP for the car was $79,000; in the eyes of the IRS, this is what they paid for VIN 001. The difference, $271,000, is an amount they can now deduct from their taxes, either all at once or spread out over time.

Iā€™m glad people are able to donate to a worthwhile charity & getting a Dark Horse Mustang isnā€™t bad either..
Iā€™m type 2.
Helping Children & adults with Diabetes is very appreciated.
Hats off to Ford. Motor Company.

The individual who purchased the Dark Horse Vin number 001 will probably never drive it. IT will just sit in their Car šŸš™ collection.
Which is probably a good thing because as we know with first year production cars, thereā€™s a lot of bugs in them.
Chances are this Mustang may not be full of Bugs.
Probably full of cockroaches!
