"Richard Hammond finally gets behind the wheel of his modified Ford Mustang Dark Horse, now pushing 867BHP thanks to a [Whipple] supercharger. After all the work, it’s time to find out if it’s brilliant… or completely mad."

The guy with Richard was funny. Never been in a car doing 80.

the parts were not made by Ford, they were made mostly by Whipple

Wait til he melts the cats out of it running that tune.

I'm surprised someone from Ford was there

I've actually been taking a look at the parts...

The wheels are by Apex. They are the VS-5RS (Satin Black).

The springs are by BMR (on behalf of MAP?). MAP X BMR Mustang Magneride Lowering Spring

I guess he had to get some other suspension mods as they can't get the Handling Pack there in the UK/EU.

MAP has some more videos coming out soon.

As for that tune. I haven't even looked into all that stuff. 867hp seems like an aggressive tune though; didn't he get a Stage 1?

Don't put too much weight on that 867hp. There's some highly questionable numbers coming out of some UK dynos.

If he got Stage 1 w/ catted LTs, that's quite a bit on the high side of believability. I'd expect it to make ~730rwhp on 91 at best with a manual tranny. This smells more like my setup. Either that or, like @LouG said, maybe they converted the rwhp to bhp to fudge the numbers. The dyno sheet did kinda look a little like someone made it in MS Paint. 😜

Your maths seem about right. I make 707 rwhp on 94 octane with the open air boxes but no LTH.

He's not running 91 tho. His first review he was running synth fuel. I suspect it would of been mapped to our 99 (93-94 us equivalent) deffo modded exhaust as the particulate filters limit power a lot. He says stage 1 but it's far from a 1 and is bespoke to him

867hp on a 3.875" pulley on 94 octane?

Magically over here making 668 torque as well.

The stage 1 kit basically is locked in to 91 octane from what I understand. It might understand E30 but I'm not certain.

It was mapped by Motorsport and performance on the Dyno as Whipple don't support export spec. If they did remove the particle filters it's no longer road legal in Europe which kinda defeats it being a daily driver but explains why the video is on the old top gear track. It will be back tracked to flywheel horsepower as that channel loves to post exaggerated figures.

Still not going to make anywhere near that power with that setup...

That sounds about right. You can make much bigger numbers with catless long-tubes, Stage 2, and switching to and E85 tune. Moreso if you drop the pulley down again and run a 10 rib. Probably would need to upgrade the fuel system as well by that point. But to be honest, 700rwhp is plenty of horsepower! Heck, if I could go back, I'd have left mine NA and just done all the bolt-ons, 4.09s, and carbon fiber bits.
