Oh and I had another customer with a Dark Horse have this same scenario and the accelerator pedal replacement was done as well as the throttle body replaced. Not sure which fixed their problem, but it was same as yours on factory stock manual DH.

Everyone is making some excellent points. Agree, all we can do is speculate at this point.

I'm sure they can fix the car, but if it can't be fixed in a month (that isn't related to parts availability), I'd start to get concerned. Now they're throwing things against a wall to see what sticks. I wonder if they've had one or more traveling senior techs look at the car? I wonder if they've offered a compensated rental?

Warranty is great, but you have to account for your loss of use. If I lost use of my daily driver. I'd be negatively impacted. This is why I think consulting an attorney is a good idea. If you have a compensated rental that minimizes your inconvenience. Now exiting the vehicle might not be as urgent. It can sit at Ford for months.

In that case, get a rental and be prepared to pursue compensation or lemon law if it's not offered. What Ford has offered thus far is not even close to being fair compensation. Is it telling? Anyone's guess.

We don't know what this is, so let's throw the guy a bone. Ford is definitely going to go for the path of least resistance, (for them) but meanwhile you're out a vehicle. I just hope they can get this figured out for him and get the car back on the road.
No rental offered but I wouldnt take it. They really have no f-ing clue whats wrong with the car... frankly I'm done... hiring an atty if this heap is stil at the dealer in exactly one week ...?that'll be 30 cummulative days outta service... buy back is all I'll accept... at 2000 miles ???! no fricken way I'd take another mustang

Its easy to get impatient with these things and im definitely sympathetic to your frustration. Sometimes the dealers and techs are just plain incompetent. Just know that as soon as you go the attorney route, all cooperation with the dealer will come to a grinding halt, and this will get a lot more complicated and arguably more difficult for you than it needs to be. Id contact Ford corporate before I went the legal route. Good luck.

And Id really like to know what code(s) they pulled from your car. Have they not told you? Have you asked?

^^ This. And Ford will also stop returning your calls. You will have a fight on your hands for sure. I would bet dollars to donuts that another dealer would be able to solve this easily.

Agreed. This really doesn't sound like it should be a complicated issue to diagnose. I can't get my head around a months worth of troubleshooting. Every anomaly is recorded and stored in the computer. Surely they must be waiting on parts or something. I would call and talk to the store manager and get as much info as possible. Definitely try another dealer or call corporate before you go with the nuclear option.

I just wanted to circle back to this thread for a minute and post the latest video from South Mail Auto LLC from YT

I watch Eric's stuff constantly, he is not a guy to fire the "parts cannon" at a job, he has done many videos where a methodical diagnosis using the "theory and operation" behind a code set then following the evidence using scopes, meters, and scanners leads him to the root cause.

The Mustang that is the original subject of this thread tossed a code and went into limp mode to protect itself.

It has codes stored that should lead to the offending component that is the problem

In the video I am linking below the LIN bus is a very small localized data network

A CANBUS is a lot more complicated, and most cars have 2 of them, but again disconnecting harnesses, looking for data bursts, or lack thereof, or compromised data due to corrosion in a connector or a couple of wires with damaged insulation cross talking and killing the data stream is a proper way to diagnose the problem, not firing the parts cannon at the car.

But my point is, and I am repeating myself because I said something similar in another post, is that dealership techs are not learning theory and operation, It is a lot easier for them to learn it on one manufacturers platform and a few different models compared to someone like me that works on multiple manufacturers products.

This is how a proper diagnostic and repair is done, and if you watch to the end Eric calls out the dealer techs for not knowing theory and operation on their product lines from memory

The S650 canbus and all modules are data encrypted. You arent diagnosing them in the same manner. Ford techs should have the correct datalogging tools to pull all the data and send it to their higher tier tech line folks to look at.
