Hi All,

As winter is round the corner now I’m planning to get set of winter tires for my S650 mustang GT. I heard good reviews about Nexen winguard sport 2s. I have a base GT with all season tires - 255/45/18 and planning to get 245/45/18 on winter tires. Will this setup look bad on car? This is my daily driver so need it to look good with snow performance aswell. Please lemme know your thoughts.

@vaporbluestang ..... I am real jealous that you can drive in the winter. Where I live snow and road salt would be brutal on it so I just put my 2024 vapor blue GT 'vert to sleep for the winter. Nexen, Michelin and Bridgestone are used by winter Mustang drivers in my area. Good luck with your hunt.

Like Alan; I've had excellent results from Blizzaks, and General Ultimax Arctics as well. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Don’t know if they make the size you need, but there are not any better snow tires than these. I have heard the Vermont State Troopers use these.

Not sure what there is to be jealous about. He probably has salted roads as well. Some people aren`t worried about stuff like this. It takes years for salt to actually damage the car and it might be sold by then anyways.

If you plan to keep your car "forever" and want to keep it in good condition. I totally understand putting it away for the winter.

@Mspider......I should have been more specific. It is salt that's used but it is a worse format. They spray liquid brine. If you get caught behind a group of the spray the trucks the entire underside of your vehicle - every nook and cranny is soaked. Once the brine dries on the roads/highways it forms brine clouds that are stirred up by traffic, especially on highways. It then goes not only all under the car but into the engine intakes and entire engine bay. When that gets wet and hot the rust starts within one season. In the summer you can see the white residue in the engine bay and under that car. It reacts badly with the aluminum blocks. It rusts the longitudinal under chassis frame stiffener bars on c convertibles and because thee bars run alongside the dual exhaust runs they are practically useless in five years. Many have not even paid-off their loans. The solution for a lot of sports car owners is to buy a winter "beater." So, yes if anyone can drive in the winter in a jurisdiction where their Mustang will survive, I am jealous of. I lose about six months of Mustang driving. I have the Mustang "withdrawal shakes" by April!

You must live in Vermont! I did for 16 years. Had a Jeep Wrangler, bought new, undercarriage all rusted in 6 years. All support parts were totally rusted and useless from the salt brine spray. Great for driving when way below zero and snow and ice, but it’s an expensive price for vehicles.

I had a Jeep wrangler JKU for 8 years here in Boulder. Drove in the snow all of the time. No rust what so ever. I don’t think they use salt here in Boulder Denver areas.

Just looked it up. Colorado uses Mag Chloride. It’s not good on vehicles. I guess I got lucky.

@SQJ ..... even though I don't winter drive and het my brakes just before I part it for the winter. I know it will ger hit by rain. The dealer agreed to let me apply Corrosion Free spray to it in his detailing bay for 45 minutes before we drove it home (February), in case we hit any roads that had been brine sprayed. It was that or spend a grand flat bedding it and that could have gotten road spray on the undercarriage. Used 8 big cans with with 3M specialty masks and ball caps on. Worked beautifully. I got it every where twice. Gave the salesman $150 to buy some d-nuts for staff as the next day was a Friday. Straight oil, no gum, no wax. Have had professionals apply it for 30 years. friends fight for my cars. easy to find on the Corrosion Free website. Works amazing, goes everywhere. I'll try to get into @Grabber1 club and post a couple of pictures to show how this stuff looks.
