Will using Simple Green on the Brembo calipers harm the brake pads?

I’ve got beautiful bright red Brembo brakes and the REALLY powdery black dust generated by the pads is discoloring them……..short of taking off the wheels, can I spray some Simple Green on them before washing the car without harming the pads?

Just me, but I wouldn't go anywhere near my car with Simple Green.

Your wheels and brake calipers are going to stay dirty if you drive the car. It wouldn't be good for brake pads either. Just my opinion.

May I ask why you don’t like Simple Green…..supposed to be all organic and gentle on all surfaces, isn’t it?

Simple Green should be fine , just don't let it sit , and stay out of direct sunlight. Rinse very well. Purple power works great too , same rules. I just wouldn't use it on the rest of the car , as it's overkill and unnecessary. imo.

Sure, I do like Simple Green for the right things. It's just too strong for my car but do what you want on yours. For example, I would use Purple Power (I like it better than Simple Green) for the inside of my rims but not the painted outside. I keep my outsides waxed well and leave brake pads alone.

Im not a simple green guy, bit I'm sure it's fine.

I personally use P&S brake buster. It's great stuff amd made for Wheels and brakes.

Simple green can cause discoloring or damage to painted surfaces. It should be diluted and not allowed to dry on the surface it's being used on. Definitely avoid using it on vinyl and plastic.

Use a specific brake cleaner like CRC Brakleen. It won't harm seals, and it removes any contaminants from the pads.

The organic pads on my friends older mustang cover the rims with black dust. The oem pads on my 2024 Tt leave nothing on the rims/tires. A bit of road dust the odd time but no brake dust. Chage the pads.

I use Meguiars All Wheel Cleaner

https://www.jbtools.com/meguiars-g1...-D50&msclkid=5ef8950d013f1251ed4ffd33db1d6e72

and an old soft tooth brush and detail brush to clean my calipers.

Always clean your calipers when they're cool/cold and NOT HOT! DO NOT allow what ever cleaning solution (I've used both Simple Green and Purple Power in the past) to dry and rinse thoroughly .

Best of luck with whatever you go with!
