lol because Ford is the worst automotive company in the world.

I mean they just don’t give a shit.

I ordered a keychain from the Ford Accessories website and they had to ship me another because they shipped me an EMPTY FREAKING KEYCHAIN BAG- SEALED NO LESS.

Every one of their employees must not give a crap. There is no other explanation.

how does an employee take an order, and physically put what you see in the photo in a box and ship it?

It starts at the top and goes all the way through to Customer Fulfillment.

but, alas, nobody else makes a V8 Manual for under $50k so here I am and here we are 🤣

OK - So you can't make this up.

Further drama in the missing keychain saga:

They accidentally shipped out TWO replacement keychains.

Just got an email saying when I get both to contact them so I can arrange to ship back one of them.

ahahahaha smh

They really run their entire operation mired in a sea of incompetence and mediocrity.

Yet here we are still buying stuff from them making them money... whatcha gonna do lol

I was a supplier to them. Nobody would believe the stories I could tell. Let it suffice that GM had the same reputation at the time. Want to own a new GM V8 right now?

Let us not forget that these days, vehicles are so much more tech loaded and many of the tech parts come from Mexico and other parts of the world. Therefore, the QC process for many of these parts is only as good as the people/machines that are doing it. So many recalls that we see today are for simple parts (ex: backup camera) that may have slipped undetected in final inspection of the vehicle before it gets to the dealer.

Given the design engineering complexity of our S650 connected tech vehicle it is only as perfect as sum of it's parts and labor and those are not perfect! This implies that recalls will always be there in vehicle manufacturing that no longer has vertically integrated supply chain and sources parts from all over the globe.

Bottom line every time I hit the engine start button and hear the V8 come to life and ready to go for a drive I have to give credit to Ford for still producing this complex ICON on wheels with all it's current and future possible design recalls.

recalls are literally part of the overall process at this point.
The mantra is keep lines running no matter what.. so understand that is THE CORE PRINCIPLE
Yes, but the amount of recalls can certainly reflect on the culture of a company.

If a company has double the amount of recalls as the brand with the next most recalls, then it is no longer 'part of the process', but has now instead become a sign of poor QC. Every company has recalls, but few have ever seen as many as Ford in recent times. Trying to sweep this under the rug and say that its normal is not helping anyone, its hurting.

This is why ford is pushing for their new EV platform/universal manufacturing process.

their “new model T moment”

it’s easier to start clean sheet into the future… and that’s the plan, the next 100 years of Ford.

Any reason to not expect just as many recalls with the EV models?

I was watching a lot of s550 factory videos (s650 videos are mostly non existent and should be the same process) vs Integra type S since those were the two cars I was cross shopping. It was night and day. The mustang assembly plant and machines did not look nearly as well maintained and the whole process seemed like a generation behind the Integra. There was even a video where they ran out of wheels and so were putting temporary ones on just to keep the line moving and this was last generation. I’m sure it’s deteriorated more since then.

Ford uses statistical methods of checking incoming supplier material and parts. So, not all parts are looked at before going on a car. They are supposed to do the same thing on their assembly lines but I have witnessed Ford UAW employees cheating on their SPC charts. So, there ya go. SPC works quite well, IF you use it.

as an example the blue machine is from a Honda plant. Modern lighting everything is spotless. The yellow machine is from a Mustang plant. Dirt all over the place. Just shows the difference in pride. When you are proud of the work you do, you naturally make a better product.

you are comparing plants built decades apart though. I get it but it’s misleading.

compare that to fords new plant when it comes online
