Is there a specific type of driver who tries to race you? Do drivers of certain types of cars consistently think they need to prove themselves against you? This is purely generalization, but I want to see if there is one or two vehicles that tend to lead the pack, if it's evenly spread across all drivers of all makes and models, or if it's geographical, which I think might be the case.

For me, North of Seattle, hands down it's the Subaru drivers. BMW drivers are a close second, but every single day, without fail, at least one Subaru will come up beside me on the highway, rev their engine, and then floor it ahead of me like they think we're racing. WRX and BRZ drivers are the biggest subsect, I'm sure to nobodies surprise, but Legacy and Forrester drivers do it, too. And one Baja. That one was odd.

To my surprise, Nissan drivers, (Z and GT-R folks), don't want to race, but will more often than not stop beside me and want to talk to me at red lights and such, which I think is awesome. I've also never had another Mustang driver try to race me.

Your turn. Let me know who is trying to race you.

It's funny how you say you've never had another Mustang try to race you. Other than a Hellcat that tried to race AS I WAS LEAVE THE DEALSHIP, the 1st guy to try me, was an S550 CS. We were pretty even until we had to break for a stop sign. He was at least my age, 49.

This is why I think the demographics will change geographically. The interactions I've had with other Mustang drivers has always been of the, "Nice car, Bud," "You too, friend," sort of interactions.

Not certain type of cars but certain type of drivers. I have had every single possible car trying to "race" me.

Not race like next to each other but when I'm driving normal, they try to push me from behind to go faster because they want to test out how good they can keep up with me.

I don't have to prove myself so I don't give them that opportunity.

I'm with you there. I don't need to prove anything to anybody. I usually have a good laugh about it and ponder how insecure they probably are while driving the magnificent piece of machinery I find myself in.

When I had my '24 Mustang GT it was usually Chargers with the 5.7 HEMI or the 6.4 HEMI. Hellcats always left me alone probably because a GT isn't much work for a Hellcat. Riced out Honda Civics were also pretty bad offenders.

With the Hellcat I have now most cars leave me alone. It gets way more attention than the Mustang, but more so just staring and ooh's and ahh's. The only cars that really try to do anything are 5.7L and Scat Pack Chargers/Challengers because those just seem to attract the most hoonigans. Sometimes I'll get something unique coming up to goof around like a nice AMG Mercedes or a GT-R.

The Hellcat will obliterate 99.5% of cars so I mostly just ignore people if they try to mess with me in it.

Doesn't matter what car you have, though. Nissan Altimas will race you in any car, any time, anywhere.

That's interesting. Altimas are a light snack, at best, for my 5.0 Coyote, let alone a Hellcat. I've had a couple Civic Sports and Type Rs try to bait me in, but it's wild to think of an Altima doing it. Kind of hilarious.

Me (also north of Seattle), I don't see much in the way of trying to race me (maybe not paying much attention, just enjoying the mustang), but the area is definitely awash with Subarus. I get plenty of waves/thumbs up from other mustang drivers... still no S650s though.

Idk what it is with them but that car just has a reputation for having owners who drive like maniacs. But to your point it is funny because a GT, your Dark Horse, or anything faster makes effortless work of an Altima. Even a Civic Type R would blow the doors off an Altima.

I don't want to narrow my location down too far, but if you drove past me I'd wave for sure. Doesn't matter what gen Mustang someone's driving.

Usually most of my experiences occurred on a freeway too. Never had anyone try me from a stop. Not that I am ever enticed to engage in street racing but the Hellcat has major issues hooking up from a stop. For instance a Dark Horse would kick my ass off a line. The Hellcat is a missile if you're taking off from a roll, but from a stop it will just shred the tires and spin. It has an abysmal 0-60 time for a car with 700+ hp.

Doesn't help with how heavy it is. It has a lot of power, and once it's moving, it's nearly unstoppable, but getting all of that weight up to speed is an issue, for sure.

Definitely. 275w tires trying to move a 4,400lb RWD vehicle with 700hp is an effort in failure. Even the Redeye with 800hp and 315s struggles to put the power down.

In my old '12 Mustang I had the JLT CAI, 93 BAMA Race Tune, and Borla S-Type Catback exhaust. Remember people saying don't run the race tune for daily use, but I did w/o issue.

Raced the body style Mustang that came before the '11 and up models that was a GT500.
He was slowly pulling away from me.
