Just finished up installing stage 2 Whipple Kit with dual pumps. Right now it's accessing a curcuit in the engine compartment fuse block that powers the pumps when in accessory mode. It's super annoying, drains the battery and totalling unessesary.

Does anyone know if there is a curcuit that I could put a fuse tap on that will only energize when the engine is running? I'm in the designated fuse as per Whipple's instructions. I'm not sure if they did this on purpose or if it's a misight.

He other option is to run a toggle switch which would also not be ideal.

Thanks for any direction with this.

I'm surprised this isn't in the Installation Manual?

I can't be of much help, as I've only owned one supercharged vehicle (Mercury XR7), and it used a standard intercooler. But...

If I were doing this, I think I'd find a circuit which was connected to the keep alive, and use it to drive a relay with power coming from the under hood fuse block. This way, the pump would run for a few minutes which would help cool things off a bit quicker.

What are you doing in accessory mode that long of a time without the car running that it drains the battery?

Kinda weird F21 is shown as a spare and has a fuse on it.

F8 is a 15a fuse , It's Hot on Start/Run , Looks like the safest to use and uses the add-a-circuit from Whipple.

The idea is you can run the pump while you are in the staging lanes or something at the drag strip. If you have a heat exchanger with fans you can cool the fluid without having to move the car.

gotta agree with @jhunt47 here, why are you just sitting in accessory mode? im pretty sure its supposed to run without the engine on for reasons @robvas mentioned. but also, it looks like the engine bay fuse box doesnt have many fuses that would be issue-free with tapping that are only on when the engine is running

I agree here. Back in the day, I had an intercooler on a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 3.8L. The pump and a fan override switch were setup this way so I could get the fluid nice and cold in the staging lanes.

Having said that, I did drain the battery a time or two by not switching them off.

I found the same thing. F21 is listed as a spare, but it has a fuse!! Really weird. I'll put a meter on F8 and see what I find.

Thanks for your help.
