🚗 Happy Father’s Day from Redtiger!

Father’s old car often holds a lot of memories — maybe it wasn’t the newest or the most stylish, but it was part of many family moments.
Whether it was used for weekend trips, late-night drives, or just running errands, that car played a role in shaping those experiences. It’s a reminder of time spent together, the little adventures, and the simple moments.

What was your dad’s old car?🚗

Do you have any photos of it you’d like to share? 📸

Are there any stories or memories tied to that car that you’d like to tell? 🛣

We’d love to hear from you — feel free to share in the comments below. 💬

1982 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. Was his second new vehicle ever, he loved that car.

No Pictures.

We were poor so dad had Chevy full-size when I was a kid, but later moved to Ford pick-ups (after the kids were gone).

His vehicle that was my favorite was a ‘49 Chevy pick-up. Green. As a kid would ride in the back, standing up, and my fingers holding on to the rain gutter. Of course, parents would get arrested for allowing that now. Somehow I survived.

The one my dad still jokingly dreams about, that it's waiting for him in a garage somewhere in the mountains of Pennsylvania, is a 1962 Corvette. Black on black with chrome.

My father's first car was an orange Plymouth Barracuda with a slant six engine that he rebuilt himself. He told me about how he used to "jump the railroad tracks" in it.

Later in life other "fun" cars he had included a white turbocharged 1993 Toyota Supra with a targa top. It was supposed to be my first car, but it wasn't because he thought I'd kill myself. Also, one day he took it up to about 120 mph with me in the passenger seat.

He was a big James Bond fan, and right after he saw the movie Goldeneye and my mom commented on how attractive she thought Pierce Brosnan was, he bought a green BMW Z3. The clutch in that car was AWFUL. Will never forget one day he let my now wife and I borrow it to take to the beach and we got caught in bumper to bumper traffic. Couldn't put the top back up electronically and we were absolutely cooking in the sun, it felt like 100 degrees outside (it may have been) and my ankle was KILLING me from the clutch.

He kept the BMW trend going and upgraded to a 330Ci convertible with the same straight 6 engine as the M3. After about 80,000 miles on it, when my old solara's transmission went out after about 200,000 miles on it, he sold me the 330Ci. I loved it, but the repairs were constant and astronomically priced. I sold it after the cluster went out and some other engine component went out that would have been a $3,000 repair.

I think he'd be proud of the fun I've been having in my S650 GT convertible, and occasionally sharing the fun with my wife and oldest daughter too.

I used AI to search for info on the 1964.5 (1965) Mustang new vehicle launch promotional activity at the 1964 World's Fair. My Dad, as a respected newspaper sports editor, was selected to participate as a driver in this 250 mile road rally event.

My dad told me about this years ago and this is the first info I have been able to locate. Used Grok3 DeepSearch.

I purchased a 2025 GT in his honor back in January.

Thank you Grok for a great FD gift!

Early '90s station wagon that stank like hell of unwashed beagles. Every time he offered to drive I would turn him down.

He was the opposite of a car guy. Never had a cool car that I can remember.

My Dad drove the 420hp version of a Mustang GT he bought while he was in his '80's. He enjoyed it.

The car I remember the most was my dad’s 1963 Galaxie 500, 2 door. He bought it new the year I was born and kept it over 20 years. I wish both were still around!
Happy Father’s Day!
