The comparisons get complicated because of availability and real-world pricing. For example, there are a dozen Mustang GTs at my local dealership, all $5k off MSRP. I could have a fully-loaded (401A) GT with Active Valve Exhaust starting at $45k. There are two BMW m240i in stock locally, the cheapest one is $58k.
The question ends up being if you get the one do you still want the other?

The car you described would have an MSRP of 55k…401A, Auto and AE. So 50k if you can get one for 5k off. (And in a color you like)

Ah, you're correct, it's 400A. It's ~$50.8k minus $5k dealer and $1k Ford trade incentive.

Enthusiasts will always want new cars.

Ok so maybe not all have been fully addressed yet as recalls but a lot of people on here with the new model are complaining a lot about this vehicle noises, mis-aligned body pieces, just alot of complaints so far.
Complaints <> Recalls

It's that lovely UAW quality for ya'. A missing barrel nut that holds the clutch fluid line in place? Seriously? And the result is your car catches fire and burns to the ground? This crap should never happen.

Hmm, depends, what is it you like about both cars? For example, I cross-shopped the BMW 4-series convertible against the Mustang convertible. If I had FOMO over wood trim on my dashboard, then the 4-series was the winner.

The only thing potentially appealing with the other is the generalized preconceived notion of eins, zwei, drei vier, fünf - clean roof vs hey, you gotta light - hold my beer you think this nut will fit.

edit: doh, that was supposed to be clean room - completely different but i guess that reinforces the acceptance of haste.

Comment is wild. S550 owners aren't coping over anything. If anything, its the opposite. Enjoying our cars and not stressing about new model recalls. Hope they clean it up. "All new" model at the same time as extensive labor strikes, can't say I'm surprised.
Ahhh, yeah they are. Not all, but some. This forum isn't the only place S550/ S650 discussions take place....Its funny to be on a S650 facebook page/ group, talking about S650 things, then random S550 owners just pop in and challenge me. Like "my S550 is faster" or "I'm you huckleberry". I'm not sure that some of these kids realize that some of us don't care and think the crap is childish.

Meh, every car comes with stereotypes. Corvettes come with a pair of cargo shorts and ray-bans.

That’s the point - buying the car not purchasing a stereotype

Is this due to improvements in efficiencies or acceptability of inferiority, grass is greener on other side simply because of newer manure?
I dont understand your question but I think its safe to say nobody would buy a Mustang if it wasnt for the fact that it is the last car that you can buy with a V8 & manual brand new ! It is for sure not because of the great reliability or build quality or quality of materials used or that Ford tops the list of factory recalls...LOL Corvette is probably worse when you look at paint and misaligned panels or the problems they have with their automated manuals...But why should they change anything as long as the fanboys love and accept it as part of the experience...But for 100 grand I would expect nothing less than the quality of a KIA or Hyundai for less than 1/3rd of that price !

I don't understand this vehicle is not a complete overhaul they've been making it for 60 years yet there's several recalls already? Come on Ford what's going on and the price keeps going up? I thought they were focusing more on quality which they should have been from day 1.
I’ve only received one recall (knock on wood) so far about the loose clutch line. I think that what ever packages you selected are getting recalled unfortunately.

I tell you what...I bought a lot of american cars through my life because I love the sound a Torque of a V8 especially paired to a manual...But I was honest enough that I only bought them for that reason because the quality compared to german or japanese cars sucked ! But now with prices where they are you cant say anymore yes the interior plastics suck , the paint does not look good or panel gaps are uneven or there are squeaks or rattles I can live with because I only paid 30 grand max...That ship has sailed while the quality still sucks unfortunately...But I have to say my new Challenger had no quality or reliability issues so far which has surprised me in a positive way...Not even squeaks or rattles except for one molding where the tab was broken and fixed by warranty ! But I am not too worried as I bought Stellantis 8 year/100K manufaturer bumper to bumper warranty with $100 deductible for 3 grand...Peace of mind especially thinking how complicated cars are nowadays and how expensive it is to fix them ! Maybe the forum should let you buy all the cars since yours are and have been all perfect...LOL

Is the grass greener on other side of the fence simply because of newer manure?
