I am not fond of the tow hook that comes with our vehicles and would love to get a functional folding tow hook. What did everyone get that has a real one? I dont want a cheep one that will break.

First, mine didn't come with a tow hook, and second, the one that screws behind the little plastic bumper cover looks like shit if left on there like some people do. Just my opinion.

Mine came in the spare tire well under the air pump.

Pretty sure all DH are supposed to have them.

I ditched the stupidly conceived air pump and put in a Modern spare. Better peace of mind. Don't know if the DH has the stamping for it or not.

What Spare Tire Manufacture did you go with? I have been looking on FB marketplace but nothing in my local area.

it is not intended to be used while driving. Install it in the event of an emergency that requires it.
wanting one just for looks.......well, ok
You keep it installed while in track. Many tracks require them to be installed while driving.

Modern Spare. They are very good about answering any questions you may have. Good people.

My question is more intended use related, lifting or yanking? I mean is the hook strong enough to suspend the vehicle or simply needing to be capable of dragging? I mean can i use a crane and lift by the hook or do i need a winch to pull by the snout?

It is called a tow hook... not a lift hook... only rated to drag the car out of the gravel trap or grass and back onto the track.
