Pretty much every car with a monitoring system needs recalibration. I'm not sure what would make the Mustang special in this regard.
The mustang is special because of the logos on their windshield, and because of the option where you can get an extra layer of protection as well, if you get a non oem windshield you wont get the logos or extra layer of protection.

Most cars have a factory tint patern on the upper windshield and around the mirror that you can only get with OEM glass. This is nothing new. BTW, the Mustang has had that logo since 2015.

What is this extra layer of protection are you referring too? 🤷‍♂️

So the OEM S650 Mustang GT comes as a laminated windshield and some of them can have acoustic glass designed to reduce road noise, some models even have a rain sensor that automatically activates the windshield wipers etc. And I’ve already gone over the pony logo and Ford logo that you won’t get with an aftermarket windshield. Now if you’re used to all of these options because you’ve been buying Mustangs for years that’s awesome, but for a lot of people like me that’s new to this platform, a lot of those things are new and surprising, I never had any of these options on my FL5 Honda Civic Type R, or MK8 Golf R, or my 6th Gen Camaro SS 1LE, so if this information isn’t new for you Ryan that’s fine just ignore it and leave it for the people it actually benefits that are new to the Mustang platform like myself.

You have no idea the difference between acoustic layer and layer of protection. I recommend you do some actual research / study of the process for making windshields and the reasons why some have certain designs while others don’t. Calling it special because of a logo or pony just tells me I shouldn’t watch your video.

Accoustic glass isn't a protective layer. And just like rain sensors, it comes on many makes and models including Honda and Toyota. If your windshield says "soundscreen" in the corner, it has acoustic glass. I think it comes on the 400 and 401 packages. It's also not new for the S650.

Look I'm glad you are enjoying your car and I understand this is new and surprising info to you. I'm also not disputeding that you should always get OEM glass. But none of this makes the mustang windshield special. If you are going to come here to post a video to educate people, you should at least have an idea of what you're talking about. That's all im saying.

Sorry I didn't see the need to revisit this as I already stated it earlier in the thread that Ford also offers a laminated windshield made of two layers of glass with a thin layer of plastic in between, so to me that is a layer of protection as it keeps the windshield from shattering immediately upon impact with large projectiles. I do however agree with you that you should absolutely never watch any of my videos as they are not intended for people like you.

Laminated glass IS for accoustic sound dampening. Its not two different things. And isn't a "protective" layer. And just like rain sensors, it comes on many makes and models including Honda and Toyota.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply Ryan, but I must point out that I am not here to educate anyone as I am new to this platform, I'm simply sharing my experience with the car so far, and all of this is cool, surprising, and exciting to me, so as I said before if it doesn't pertain to you why even bother to put your two cents in? I'm curious what is your interest in commenting on my posts if it's stuff you know already? For example I see newbies post stuff on the Camaro forums that I know about already, as I've owned Camaro's for a long time, and I never comment on anything they post because I am happy to see them enjoying their cars, or if I do chime in, it will be to say something positive to help them become more of an auto enthusiast. I'm curious as to why it seems as though you come from such a negative place of hate? I may be wrong but so far almost every interaction I've witnessed from you has been a negative one, and in all honesty it gives Mustang owners a bad rep, is that your goal? Do you want to chase away new Mustang owners by going at everyone that posts content trying to get people to at least take notice of these cars and increase S650 Sales?

How is "watch this video before before you replace your windshield" not trying to educate people??? 🤷‍♂️

And now you're doubling down by posting complete nonsense about protective layers. I agree with @goodlettjr . Do some research on the subject, before you start getting upset with people.

Lol I'm not upset It's just an observation, I'm actually intrigued by people like you because I'm the complete opposite of you. As far as the title goes the actual title of the video is " Things To Know Before And After Replacing The Windshield On A S650 Mustang GT! " The main focus of the video was letting people know things they can expect to go through before and after replacing the windshields on their S650 Mustang GT's from an Insurance perspective. The actual composition of the windshield is just a small part of the video, most of the video deals with going through the Insurance company and what you can expect from dealing with Safelite etc. So I'm essentially sharing my experience on this particular subject. You still haven't answered my question though, what is your motivation for commenting on my posts since it's things you already know? Why even bother? Why exert the energy? I'm curious as to what drives you, as it's not a pattern of behavior I would undertake myself, please explain, I am genuinely curious, do you feel like your somehow making the world a better place? Do you think you’re helping Ford sell more cars? Seriously get back to me and explain your mentality, I feel like there’s a lot to learn about life by interacting with people like you.

Also I'm curious, is the acoustic glass thinner or thicker than the non acoustic glass? As I said I am new to this platform so I assumed the acoustic glass would absorb a rock chip better than a non acoustic glass, but I could be wrong so please educate me if you know as I am genuinely curious about this.
