To be honest I'd love to see some videos of that blue mustang in your profile. I like watching mustang content on youtube. I used to post content but I had a 6g and sold it hoping to get a 7g gt500.

That would actually be awesome, he does have an awesome looking car if it's the one in his profile photo I'd love to see some content on it.

Well, I would agree with you except that the video content was relevant to the mustang7g ownership experience. If it was a video about how to feed your dogs or something like that, then ok, but it's a thread that is definitely relevant. What's the difference between the video and the picture? Most people wouldnt say anything if it was just a picture of their car. But because they share a video, it's spam? Relaxxxxxxxx

The difference is that is was presented as click bait. Perhaps that wasn't the intent, but when a brand new account comes in and posts a headline, and then says watch my video to learn more...it just comes of as self promotion, not a person who is genuinely interested in the topic. Especially after you watch said video, and its just basic stuff that most peope already know and doesn't support the topics claim. Youtubers need click and likes to get promoted and further their brand after all.

If he had just posted a discussion about the differences between OEM and non OEM glass, and the need for calibration I wouldn't have given it a second thought. I apologize if I came off too strong. I've been on car forums for many years and I'm hypersensitive to spam, as many people are, because it's everywhere, all the time.

That's actually very constructive criticism that would have probably been better received as your first response Especially with him being new to the forums. I mean even if he was excited about his new Mustang and youtube video, that's cool too.

Thanks for explaining your train of thought, I apologize for coming off as spam, that absolutely was not my intent, I also openly explain in my profile that I am a Youtuber, and everything that I say here can easily be verified by scrolling through my channel, I am however new to forums and I appreciate you taking the time to educate me on the proper etiquette on how to post on forums as a new member.

@RCFMustang ...... great conversation starter. There is only one sane option for a Mustang windshield replacement that is OEM. The cheaper ones are junk. If you own a convertible (I do) then windshield selection is even more crucial. I replaced the windshield on my former 2014 Mustang convertible. I could have gotten a windshield at 1/3 the cost of the OEM but on a convertible the windshield is an integral part of the structure. On a coupe the windshield is also of structural significance as a cheap one could promote future creaks and groans. For the newer Mustangs (I have a 2024) the windshield is linked to telemetrics.....and good luck with resale if you go with a cheaper windshield.

I replaced the windshield in my 2011 last year and was lucky to still get OEM. It has the running horse intead of the Ford logo they now have. One should really research installers as there are many poor to average.
I was very concerned as my 2011 has a glass roof and it has a black metal trim piece above the windshield. It is one time use and was $500 which is no longer available. I chose a family owned business that that had very experienced technicians.

Hi thanks I think I remember you commenting on the channel as well, now that I see the actual photos of your car I better understand why you were so cautious, you definitely don't want someone to potentially mess up the upper glass on your car. Btw the interior on your car looks amazing, is that stock or did you get those seats custom made?

I do work for a mom and pop glass shop, in fact my pop was one original partners that started it. We are in PA so I do not know all of the laws/rules for other states but I will give you some things from here.

1. The insurance company can't make you use a specific shop, they may not pay as much as the shop of your choice wants but that is rare, we have agreements with all of the insurances to charge the pre-determined rate of their choosing.

2. The insurance does not have to and in many cases they will not pay for OEM, unless you have that as a rider on your policy. That being said on my Mustangs I will not use anything other than OEM glass, fortunately Carlite (the exact glass that would be sent to a dealer) is available to us from our distributors. They usually charge a premium over it compared to an aftermarket knock-off, but you have to way the benefits to the price.

3. If you have active lane departure or adaptive cruise control or automatic braking and a camera in your windshield - recalibration is a must and we have not had any OEM windshields fail this but we have had several aftermarket failures, although that number is dropping as time goes on.

Bottom line is on a collectable car, I would always use OEM in any piece of glass if it is available, but on my daily driver or if it is not available, I would not hesitate to use an aftermarket piece. I would never use anything but a mom and pop glass shop for any vehicle. You don't know how many times we have had to "fix" something that a large chain did and either could not or refused to fix.

Very well said, I will look into using a local mom and pop shop in the future if I ever need to replace another windshield.

Thanks for the feedback, I felt it was important to understand the calibration process of getting your windshield replaced, and to also choose the right windshield when getting your windshield replaced because that can also affect resale value, also to be careful about not letting them damage your car.

Pretty much every car with a monitoring system needs recalibration. I'm not sure what would make the Mustang special in this regard.
