I Found out the same thing, but my top down speed was closer to 100 mph, I have hit 90 without a problem. I did the same the same thing (125mph) with the top up just to make sure it wasn't something else.
The 08 GT 500 has a real boot and so far that hasn't had any problems with high speed...
My '08 GT500 Convertible actually has a manual/digital setting that you are supposed to change for either Convertible, All Passengers or just Driver. It would make sense that the modern convertible would do it automatically.
