This is what I get after almost an hour of heavy traffic averaging about 16 mph. Air intake temperatures are sky rocketing at iddle now that I have installed K&N Typhoon CAI, they come down pretty fast once I get moving.

Is this normal?....

Those seem pretty alright!
There are folks who will tell you this engine “loves heat,” and that these numbers “are what Ford intended!”

There are also those who will state that heat, unchecked, is detrimental to an engine. (The correct group 😉).

I’ve attached a photo after an alignment tech “test drove” mine (with permission to romp), and whilst calmly driving home.*with Whipple. You’ll see some tall numbers. This is a base car, so no oil cooler, and my climate is 100+ ambient. Even still, the engine is fine but numbers should not always be *this high. Yours look good without any additional context.

No additional context to be provided.

15 mph average speed on heavy traffic and no hard pulls, 59° F outside temp, NA engine with just CAI and exhaust. 2024 S650 Performance Pack.

The inlet air temp is significantly higher than what it used to be with the stock intake boxes.

I’m experiencing a similar change with the Whipple open air boxes… someone much smarter than I probably knows but it seems like these rigs require a lot of active/passive cooling to shed heat from the engine may; maybe more-so than other cars.

This coyote reminds me of the AMG M156 engine - vaguely similar in temperament, character, and heat “issues.”

Either way, wildly jealous of your 60 degree ambient temps!

You know, I was thinking about this last night as I'm doing a lot of theory crafting while waiting for my delivery on Thursday!

I originally got a quote from the Steeda.ca guys and the Typhoon kit was part of it but the more I think about it the more I'm thinking just adding Steeda drop in filters in the closed box is a better idea. I live in the GTA and half of India drives on these highways in stop and go traffic.

OR

Getting the J&L Intake guy which is a mix of open box but also directed flow.

the JLT kit looks like the air will be less turbulent as their bends are much gentler.

I'm almost shocked K&N made a production kit like that
