Have an automatic GT premium. Like performance like everyone else but it's a daily driver. Deciding what benefit I might see from a tune ?

Won't see much power from a 93 tune but the drivability and trans tuning may be worth it to you

I've yet to see any numbers on a 93 tuned stock GT. But I doubt it's enough to make it worthwhile.

I have a 6 speed and the tune on 93 does help remove the ford imposed DH tax on the GT. Throttle response is improved and the car feels more responsive overall through the rpm range. . I need to clutch in lass and the power curve feels smoother. Is it OMG earth shattering no. Am i glad i got the car tuned yes.

Is it "worth" it.....let's be honest for most people on a stock car, no. But if you are into modding and having fun with cars than yes. Do I regret tuning mine? Hell no lol because its just the start. The car is a little quicker and shifts better. If you plan to get headers or use e85 down the road it will definitely be worth it then.

Had to LOL when I read one of the earlier posts that the dual throttle bodies were because management thought that would be cool! Not saying they aren't but management doesn't know sheett about design any more than accountants can establish the cost or price of a car. Manufacturing just doesn't work that way.

I am in a stock GT automatic running 91 Octane tune for about a week (since final revision).
Absolutely worth it for my daily driver (~60 miles a day, mixed highway and street).
As a reference I had a Banks Pedal Monster installed PRIOR to tuning that I removed before installing tune, so my opinion is based on stock, pedal monster and tuned perspective.
  1. Throttle lag.
    1. Stock - insufferable throttle lag except with very heavy foot and had to be in Sport constantly to enjoy car (for me).
    2. Massively improved with Pedal Monster and loved the new throttle mapping it provided. Still ran Sport most of the time as that resolved most of the inherent lag my car seems to have. But touchy at times and I was tinkering with the settings a lot.
    3. Tune - Lag gone in all drive modes. Normal is now a very pleasant drive mode and I actually use it far more than I ever did before. No settings to mess with.
  2. Power
    1. Stock - Let face it... plenty of power here stock. How it delivered the power was enjoyable for the most part but throttle lag really killed my enjoyment at times.
    2. Pedal Monster - No power added obviously, but enabled a very enjoyable DELIVERY of available power.
    3. Tune - Huge gains? No. But gains nonetheless (butt dyno says I picked up 10-15hp). Thanks to throttle lag elimination, fuel mapping and trans tuning the delivery of available power is a hoot now.
  3. Transmission (Auto)
    1. Stock - Why did you pick this shifting profile for the GT Ford?
    2. Pedal Monster - Grumble Grumble Ford profile but at least due to more aggressive throttle profile it behaves better.
    3. Tune - Wow that' s smooth... I mean really smooth. So much smarter shift points... I really love this transmission now.

Plus as Joe_Stang mentioned above its a great starting place for more mods down the road.

I definitely recommend tuning if it's in your financial wheelhouse to do so. It was a bit of an investment initially, but as someone who averages 300-400 miles a week I am in my car a lot and the tune just adds so much enjoyment it was worth the investment.

This will be controversial to some, but I recommend the throttle controller (Soler or Banks) as an ALTERNATIVE (not a supplement... a tuner can do exactly what the throttle controller does) to tuning. It made me pretty dang happy with the car until I could tune and I have no negatives to say about them.

Great write up. Sums up my experience wit the lack of throttle. I usually have the tuner set nice linear throttles with solid response and use the throttle tuner for specific case situations when i want moar speedy pedal. Depending on fatigue or specific use, temp, humidity. But just a little mostly its in its bypass state.

Does this pedal monster void the factory warranty? I would love to improve throttle response but don't want to void the warranty, because I have used it! Also, how easy it it to "install "

I mean if you left it installed when you take it to the dealer and they could prove it caused your issue.... sure.
But they do not modify the ECU and are untraceable once removed.... so as long as you took it off prior to a dealership visit you'd be good.
As for difficulty? The Banks Pedal Monster was ~10 minutes total and a few zip ties. I'm sure the other ones are similar install time.

Hey there!
Are you looking to stick to 93 octane? Or go E85? Any further mods down the road?
Establishing a tuner to continue your build is important PLUS you'll pickup some power on 93 and even more on E85.
For the automatic transmission, as you stated you have, you can expect snappy shifts and improved overall drivability.

Let us know if we can help out - we would be more than happy to do so.

Check out Lund Racing's LRX.. just released for the S650.

It will get rid of the 155mph speed limiter, unlock some horsepower, and improve your shift points.
