My Premium GT came with the 20 x 9 wheels & 265/35/20 Goodyear all seasons. Factory recommended air pressure for those is 36 PSI. I currently have a set of SVE R355 wheels in 19 x 11 & 19 x 10; with 305/35/19 & 285/35/19 Nitto tires on them. Recommended pressures for those are 32 PSI. The TPMS system reads air pressures (cold or hot) as 3 PSI lower than the air gauge I use. NP for me as ignore the TPMS and go with the read out I get from my air gauge and the wear pattern on the tread surfaces.

I've been playing a bit with air pressures in the Nittos. I lowered the pressure to 30 PSI in the rears today, and my low reading TPMS read that as 28 PSI while I was going down the highway; triggering a low pressure alert. I added a couple of pounds at a gas station; and figured the system would reset after driving 2-5 miles at highway speeds.

It has not! Checked out the owner manual info for the TPMS; that just told me to do what already hasn't worked (see above)! Anyone know of any hacks or other tricks to reset my TPMS?

Otherw2ise it's off to the dealer for a reset. TY!

PS: I don't have FORSCAN so I can't attempt a TPMS low pressure threshold reset.

try this
To reset the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) on a 2024 Ford Mustang, you can try the following steps:

  1. Turn the key to the "On" position without starting the car

  • Locate the TPMS reset button, which is usually under the steering wheel

  • Press and hold the TPMS reset button until the TPMS indicator light blinks three times

  • Release the button and start the car

  • Let the car run for about 20 minutes to complete the reset process

If the TPMS light is still on after inflating the tires, you can try driving at or above 50 miles per hour for 10 minutes.

The TPMS is a safety feature that alerts the driver when the tires are underinflated. When the TPMS detects a problem, a warning signal will appear on the dashboard, usually looking like a tire cross section with an exclamation point in the middle.

I wouldn't screw with it until you drive more miles. I've seen these Ford systems take 5 to 10 miles of driving to start reading.

Also, "pencil" style tire pressure gauges are notoriously bad. The guy who runs the Project Farm channel on YouTube did a test of all the commonly available gauges recently and it was eye opening. I immediately bought the digital gauge off Amazon that did so well in his test, and it came to me with a calibration certification tag in the box.

Hhhhmmmm????

@Steve Schwing thanks! Already tried that; same reset technique I used with indifferent results with my former RS & ST. Sometimes the TPMS in those would reset after driving above 35 MPH for 2 miles or more (what the manuals said would happen) sometimes it would reset before I was backed all the way out of my driveway! 😆

@Neggytive Didn't know about a "reset button" there. I'll check it out! 👍

@AlloyPony right there with ya! My gauge is an Accupressure dial gauge with a bleeder valve.

If I don't have a reset button like Neggytive said, or that procedure doesn't work; I'm going to check with my dealer to see if they can reset my "TPMS's low pressure" threshold to 25/26 PSI.

Most cars have a button somewhere.

I have not had to look for mine yet so sorry not much help

Ford uses the same TPMS sensor on a bunch of cars so there has to be a easy wat to tell the computer what the tire pressure needs to be for the specified tire and weight on any one of the vehicles

Just remember when you do that pressure relearn the tires have to be at the pressure you want the sensor to see as normal, the computer will store that pressure then trigger if it drops below the allowed tolerance

I ordered a kit of 4 ea from Ford: $140 + tax delivered to dealer. It included a install gizmo. Installed on new tires and rims. Now I have to see if they work. 433Mhz was the recommended frequency it is even noted in their SKU #: 433Mhz. But what do I know😳 Stay tuned.

Pumped the driver's side rear up to 37 PSI (1 PSI over the 36 recommended for the OEM all seasons) and the system reset before I got a 1/4 mile.

Ssssoooo.........................checked with the Serv. Mngr at my dealer a while back to see about them lowering the TPMS "low pressure" threshold to 26 PSI. Told me they "would not" do it for "liability reasons". He's a decent guy to deal with, but it did kind of piss me off. After all; we survived for a century or more with no TPMS. Thought about appealing this over his head to the GM and/or owner (may still do that "depending"), but have not at this point.

As temps have dropped off recently this has reoccurred 2 or 3 more times. I'm going to check with my village dealership (my dealer is the next town north of me) to see if they'll reset my low pressure threshold for me (and how much, if anything) they want to do it.

If they tell me they "won't", as my dealer did; I need a Plan C.

What kind of kit (software/hardware/whatever) would/will I need to do it myself? TY!
