As I posted in the main forum a week or two ago, I have sold the DH to Carvana so that I can buy a new M3. I am a BMW fanbois, and this is the last year of the series G80 M3, likely the last year of a pure ICE drivetrain and possibly the last chance to get a manual transmission in the M3. I've ordered cars before, but not yet an M3, so I'll finally get the chance to get the color I want (burgundy).
But it's a bit bittersweet, getting rid of the DH. My car was a base car, manual, no options. I didn't care for the hood stickers but never hated them enough to remove them. I loved the way it looked with those fat tires. I hated the fact that Ford still can't figure out how to make a hood that won't flutter in the breeze. It's kind of disconcerting at highway speeds and downright scary at racetrack speeds. Speaking of, I took it to the track three times, leaving it totally stock it was just amazing how well it performs and holds up to track abuse. I love how a rather inexpensive (compared to European cars) domestic product allowed me to change the driving parameters, but I didn't like the limitations of the custom profiles. I don't like these big screens that we get in most cars now, but I think Ford did a great job with the instrument panel section.
And the exhaust, OMG, that wonderful V8 noise, just lovely.
The ride is firm, a bit more than I like on bad roads but really just set up lovely for the track. Everything is a compromise, and those suspension engineers really hit it out of the ballpark. Those massive brakes worked fabulously, no complaints there at all.
The seats could be better, but then I'm used to European cars and they have a different philosophy on seat comfort. However, the height of the seats is, for me, just about perfect to make it easy to get in and out. The interior plastics remain horrible, that fake carbon fiber crap is hideous, but again the car is made to a price point, I get it, and I didn't let it bother me. Did I mention how great the exhaust sounds?
Usually when I sell a car it's because I'm fed up with it or the little annoyances are getting to me or just tired of it and want something different. This time it was only because of my desire for a special M3 and likely the last time I'll be able to get one. Fortunately, I know that Ford will continue making Mustangs for quite a while, likely avoiding the hybrid nonsense and hopefully continuing with a Mach 1 or DH or other performance variant. So I can get another one down the road... and likely will do so.
I've owned something like 60 or 70 cars. I almost always lose money on them, although Covid was the exception. There were a couple that I bought for a flip, although honestly I only made a few hundred dollars of profit for an awful lot of work and trouble. I did well on the DH because I bought it slightly used and apparently the used car market is strong today, so I only lost a few hundred (not counting taxes and fees and shipping and taxes). So that helps to leave it with a good memory.
So, guys and gals, thanks for the support and help and I hope you all continue to enjoy your cars for years and years.
