I love black personally. This is my second black convertible. Last was a Wrangler. If you worry about every little speck of dust on your car I guess black may not be the best choice. But I don't get that granular about it. I wash it every two or three weeks. Looks great. Vapor blue is a beautiful color but there's nothing quite like a black Mustang!

having owned many black cars including 2 Grand Nationals, nothing looks as good as a clean black car. But it doesn't last long. 15 mins later it is starting to show dust. By the next day it's time to wash it again. A black car is a full time job. Buy the car you like and get some different wheels, not a big deal.

Agreed , wheels are NEVER a deal breaker. I can't tell you how many times my wife refused to consider a vehicle because she said "The Wheels are not pretty".

I finally got her to stop looking at the wheels first everytime. Now she just stays obsessed with the color , and says "you would have to change the wheels". lol. Nothing else ever matters to her.

You are so right; there’s nothing like a black Mustang! I had no plans to add an S650 to the stable but like many of us I enjoy surfing around looking at Mustangs anyway. And my wife evidently enjoys looking over my shoulder. So I’m looking at this one on the dealer website when she walks by and says ā€œwhere is that car?ā€. I said about 45 minutes away and it just came in. She says ā€œbetter call ā€˜em before it’s goneā€. Less than 3 hours later we have driveway enhancement. Can’t beat black!

Ok, black is out, vapor blue or carbonized gray. Found a vapor but has 5 spoke wheels I don't like. Also found carbonized gray with painted wheels I like.
<=== Get the Vapor Blue. It's an awesome color. I get compliments on it all the time. As for the wheels.... upgrade them....

Yup, get compliments on the Vapor Blue all the time, and one of the first things I did was order new wheels and tires.

I was never a big fan of black cars, with some exceptions. I have to say I bought my Shadow Black S650 because I was tired of waiting. It was, mostly, equipped the way I wanted, so I pulled the trigger. I DO NOT regret it. TBPH it doesn't leave my garage, if rain is closer than two states away. It, obviously, hasn't been a big deal keeping it clean. I want to make arrangements, with a local hand-wash place, to get weekly washes. I'm too damn old to wash a car weekly. Forgot to include pics earlier. Glenn

Beautiful car!

Iā€˜m totally with you on the black. (See my pic a couple posts up.) And I also have the luxury of it not being a DD so taking care of it isn’t a problem either.

You might want to consider my ā€œwashingā€ protocol. I use two products only:

Like you, my car never sees rain. And I de-bug the front after every ride. After ~1,000 miles since June it has never seen a single drop of water and if I’m lucky it never will. Frankly I have some physical challenges that would make a traditional wash slow, difficult and painful for me so this is it for all of my cars. Totally waterless.

Now before the bleachers fill up with naysayers, and I know it’s coming, there’s not a single scratch or swirl on my black car from this even under very bright high lumen LED stand lighting. You just have to YouTube up a bit on the correct procedure and use common sense. Use lots of product and don’t skimp on the towels. I’d recommend only using this towel or the TRC Eagle Edgeless 350 if you prefer a little lighter towel. If like my wife it makes your wife unhappy for you to use the laundry machines, just throw the towels away when they get dirty. Yeah, it’s a $5.00 towel ($3.90 if you buy a case) but still cheaper than the detailing you’re talking about. And your car never leaves your sight.

Good luck and enjoy your beautiful car!

A black car is worth the trouble. There is nothing better than sunrise on a black hood or a blue sky reflecting in the paint

Every time I see Vapor Blue in photos I feel like that's the color I should have gotten. But then when I see it in person I always feel better that I didn't.

Either way, if you really want it you should wait it out and find the car you want. I keep my cars a long time, so I'd want to make sure I'm happy with it.

Young at Heart,
I will have to hit up YouTube for the procedure. Anything that might save me a step or two. I already modified my leaf blower, so I can reduce the time spent drying. But I still plan to do a deal with a local hand-wash place. Thanks. Glenn

That's a beauty. Looks just like mine. I really like the look of the premium aluminum wheels with the shadow black. Makes them really pop against the dark background.

I know for me one of the main reason I went black is I like the black convertible top to match the paint. I just think it looks better and more cohesive.

That looks really good. Are those the bronze wheels? Sharp look against the black car and red brembos.

Thanks much man.!

Yes, the wheels are bronze. Actually it’s the entire bronze package, badges and all. I wouldn’t have had the imagination to put the black, red and bronze all together myself but I do think it works. This dealership has alway had a knack for ordering cars that have good eyeball appeal.

I gotta admit I keep imagining a set of old school Shelby-style bronze stripes on this car but it is just a regular GT and I don’t want to slip into the poser zone.
