1) correct

2) also correct, but if you push the shifter forward enough from manual back into drive, it can go partway into the neutral slot...enough to send the trans into neutral. And no, I didn't have the lever pressed in.

Don't tell me my car is the only one that can do that?!? 😳
All cars can do that! And nothing bad will happen! Glenn

It was jarring the first time it did it...caught me off guard. I didn't think it could slip past drive and back into neutral, even though it didn't lock into the neutral slot...it still did it.

I wasn't pushing up hard, it stopped at drive, but it hit the edge of neutral enough to shift into it. Like there is some slop in the indentation.

I don't know what else to tell you....
If that is the case, get that car to the dealer to have it fixed ASAP. Something is not right, not right at all! It literally should lock out!!!

I agree it should not have slop or be jumping into neutral..definitely get it checked at least. Just my thoughts

You know what, you are now the first person in the history of the motorcar to get a false neutral in an auto box.:beer:🥳

try it yourselves...push from manual into drive while driving and see if it doesn't dip into the neutral slot slightly.

if not, oh well, I guess my car is special.

How do you mean dip into neutral? If im in D drive i can push mine into neutral, buts it's locked after you take it out of R reverse. So it's free to move into neutral. If yours in dropping into neutral arbitrarily then I would say there might be an issue. Manual into drive ? Maybe im not understanding you correctly. Just trying to help. :fingerscrossed:

Pretty much that ^^^^^

it won't lock into neutral but nudges into it enough to trigger the neutral gear. Like it kind of sticks halfway into neutral if I'm not careful. And I'm not pushing it hard either.
