Recently the shifter in my ‘25 Shelby had to be replaced. Tech was unable to remove the shifter knob. Called Shelby and they told him they had used red loctite. He covered it with a protective material and had to heat it to break it loose. But, it left it looking dirty. They contacted Shelby about a new one. Shelby said that since it’s an “exclusive” item, they require a picture of the car, picture of the CSM on dash and a picture of the vin on the car where drivers door closes. Btw, all other Shelby from other aftermarket suppliers have a smaller thread size.

Yep- I had a 67 Shelby GT500 prior to my current car and there were some items I wanted to get through Shelby/Tony Branda that required the same thing .....

I have to ask this question. Why did you let a car like that go?

Red loctite... idiots!

Was it the entire shifter that was replaced?
Idiots says it all! Below is what I had to say about this when the OP mentioned this is a previous thread.

How did you get it off? Pondering the following..... The fact that Shelby or a supplier did that is troubling to say the least. Shame on the guilty party! Red loctite has no place on a shifter especially the shifter ball!

It was a difficult decision but in the end ......my youngest daughter is REALLY into cars but just not the older stuff - so she told me if I bought something newer she would want to go do more car things with me - so I sold the GT500......looked at both S550 GT500s and GT350s and decided on the 350 .....now we go to cars and coffee- been on multiple road trips from So Cal to Scottsdale for car week.....(of course this also means more time at museums with her older sister as dont want to ignore her lol)

But I will say this - the car was more an art piece then something that was enjoyable to drive ......and 90% of people at shows were convinced it was a clone and a portion of those that did realize it was real would just want to argue about whether I used the right bolts to hold the hood on or some dumb stuff like that ......where the R.....I actually enjoy talking to people about it ......

In the end I owned it for 20 years - had a ton of fun with it but I just felt like it was time to move on......I definitely didnt treat my car like most 67 Shelby owners did ....a little video for your entertainment.....

I explained in the original post how it was removed.
I suspect that Shelby did it intentionally to keep it from finding its way onto a different car, especially a non Shelby.
