I get what you're saying. But for me, a manual V8 seems like overkill. It's why I went with the auto. I test drove a GT manual and didn't have to take it out of 2-3 gear for most city driving. Seemed awkward for my style of driving.

I would do a manual in a turbo 4 cylinder all day, every day.

Now, if the sole intention is to track the car... manual all the way.
City driving usually sucks, period. Is the DH your daily or fun car? It will be one of my toys so auto is not an option ha.

If your only in 2nd or 3rd driving a manual in the city, just wait… the 10-speed will try to go to 10th gear in the city… lmao

In my day, most V8s didn't come in manuals for a reason. Only the weaker engines needed it. But then again, we didn't have internet marketing campaigns swaying people's opinion. Enjoy wearing out those clutches.

I find it "weird" that the vibe here is that an automatic Dark Horse is somehow not fun to drive.

I dont think its the fact that they can't be fun. I think its that there are plenty of automatic in or below the price range that can deliver the same. The manual is what drove me to the DH over the C8. If both were automatic only the C8 would have been the choice. The C8 is a great automatic as well. The manual to many is just more fun.

We all see things differently, ...or that used to be the case. I went with the Dark Horse because it is more of a common man's car. Just raw power without all the flare. Plus I like the styling much much better. if I wanted fun luxury, I would have kept my continental or went euro.

C8 doesn't do it for me. I think they screwed the pooch taking the engine out of the front of the vehicle. But that is me. Odd that they are even compared to each other when it comes to driving experience.

But IMO, there's absolutely nothing boring about driving an auto Dark Horse.

Manuals are never fun in traffic. It is just something we have to put up with to enjoy them the rest of the time.
I have a manual GT and live in Sydney, where the traffic is horrendous every hour of the day, any day. I was pleasantly surprised to notice that the GT is good to drive in traffic, at least not worse than our auto city car.
I have to say that I don't need a car to commute to work, so I use it only when I want.

Ya i saw your post earlier about various cars. Agree different strokes for different folks. People should spend how they seem fit also. I'm not knocking anyone here. I think everyone has been respectful in this thread at least of everyone's preference.

The comparison comes in with the price point. To me I think the DH is a little high on the price. Then people point to specs which the C8 wins, but most of the people pointing to them can't drive either car to their full potential. I'm in that group that can't maximize either but enjoy them both. After driving both the C8 and DH back to back I enjoyed the manual better.

Again, just odd to me, but the base(ish) vette and DH are 15-20k apart from each other where I live. I mean the only comparison I really see is they are both top in American muscle. That means I can supercharge my DH or get a base(ish) vette for roughly the same price. To me a no brainer.

My gripe if I have one. And I don't. Is that the push narrative seems to be that a manual is superior to auto on driving experience. I was just pointing out that didn't used to be the case. But with the world being upside down as it is from those days....kind of makes sense.

Not knocking an auto anything. As a rule they are quicker and that can't really be denied. Some of us just prefer to be more connected to the car even if it slows it down. The M6 is what attracts me to the DH. If I go the C8 route then I have no choice but to go auto. If I go with a Blackwing then I'll go with the M6.
