Raising ride height on Dark Horse to avoid scraping?

Hi all,

I have a Dark Horse with the Performance Package and keep scraping on my steep driveway. I've already tried driveway curb ramps and angling the car when backing in/out, but it's not enough due to tight street parking.

I'm looking to raise the ride height slightly, ideally close to the clearance of my old 2020 Bullitt, which cleared the driveway fine.

Has anyone swapped to regular GT springs to add height, or any other options to add some height to the car? I'm looking for recommendations on how to do this without affecting the handling too much or the wallet .

currently running 275/35 on the front and 305/30 on the rear.

I removed the front valance from our Dark Horse (w/ HP) and replaced it with the non-HP version for this very reason. Helps a lot with angled driveways.

Come tire time, I’m planning on copying some others on the forum here, and going to 325/30 in the rear and 285/35 in the front (stock HP 19” rims). That will also add a little height.

Keep the car like it is and relocate your residence for a better driveway.

One item to consider is changing your tire size.

Moving to a 285/35/19 square setup will do a few things for you:

- Increase the overall height of the car

- Allow you to rotate tires

- Preserve the stock rims

- Give you greater options for any brand or type of tire

You mentioned curb ramps. Can you post a photo of those and the driveway?

How much clearance do you think you need? Maybe butting the car to the drive, then using a jack to see what you're up against.

There aren't necessarily any cheap or easy options. Mine involves rims and tires which would help, but not necessarily solve the issue.

I use my HP DH as a daily and switched tire size to 285/35 front and 295/35 rear. When I replace these I might move up to 295/35 front and 305/35 rear making it the same size as oem gt350 used to have. This bring it to the non HP tire height. Continental makes an excellent summer tire in this size:

OEM part # PR3Z17D957BA

I actually bought the aftermarket version for about half the price of the Ford part. We'll see if it holds up as well. RockAuto and others have it.

Its a unique part to the Dark Horses without handling package. It looks very similar to the GT and EcoBoost version, but its a tad longer. The GT/EcoBoost versions do not fit (ask me how I know...).

HP front wheels are 10.5". 305/35 is not optimal but should work too. Doubt it would rub.

Ah okay, I thought we were talking about swapping in new wheels too. This why I'm back and forth on the HP. I think those that actually track a lot will eventually transition to a square setup in order to be able to rotate.

I don't think the difference would be sufficient to upset the stability control or traction control system.

Then it looks like the answer is no, confirmed by Jonyxz actually using them in real life. I had thought maybe they would be too tall.
