I think most brands would kill to have a sports car that can sell 4K-5K units per month- for a sports car, that is actually phenomenal. Not to mention has been in production for 60 years!
To a certain extent, it’s a matter of perspective: you’re right in that most companies would be very happy to sell that many sports/performance cars per month, but the Mustang had its worst sales year ever last year—after a redesign that should’ve bumped sales—and is unfortunately following that up with a repeat performance. It’s not a good look for the Mustang, even if Ford is somehow satisfied with the sales.

This fits into the conversation about how the mustang in 2025 is selling more than the mustang in 2024 how?...

2024 mustang sales are included in Mustangs sold in 2025 I've been told.

It's always interesting reading about monthly sales. Having been in sales for almost half a century I understand the importance of these numbers. And it's also why I realize that numbers for our Mustang are totally useless and irrelevant. Mustang sales, regardless of a monthly up or down will not determine the future of our car. There is also no competition to compare our numbers too. So it's a fun game but in the end pointless.

Now look at the numbers for EV's, SUV's and Trucks. Now that means something and can actually impact the future of our Mustang.

Not quite true. If they get low enough they won't be able to justify using an entire factory to just build Mustangs. Then they will have to share a platform with other vehicles and then be built there. That's how you end up with a Mustang that's based on an SUV or something ridiculous.

One hand or the other...

E.V. numbers look about how I predicted they would go.

The E.V. truck is totally dead, for now...

Granted the Mach-E seems to have held in there, but I am not sure how many incentives were used to keep it going this long. I don't see good times ahead for it.

It will be interesting if they are able to get the public excited and back on board for electric, or if something totally new comes about. I think the Hybrids are the only way to go moving forward with electric propulsion. No one wants to be stranded.

I agree. Started off shaky with the shortages, when production picked up they sat on lots, but then incentives helped propel sales last year. Now it’s just slowly going back down with Ford taking things away like the frunk I read.

From what Farley said in an interview, the new EV platform could introduce a performance sedan and other things. (Ironic with Mach 4 rumors, if that ends up happening it’ll be funny to me)

Nice to see Mustang sales picking back up though after that no sale hit.

The price will be going up for this ICON, as Ford will have to start passing the tariff costs down on the customer in the future, and that could mean even lower sales next year?? It is still nice to see that other web car sites like "TOPSPEED" are doing some good advertising for the ICON in their reviews. Cut from their page on the DH review below

@Jarstang ..... about those sales numbers. Several guys I know have been shopping for 2026 Mustang GTs - ALL - have said the same thing. Dealers have more interest that order allocation. Yes, you heard that right., you might not be able to order a Mustang from a dealer if they don't have the quota. Sounds like a supply problem not a demand problem. Maybe Ford could vastly increase sales if they had the capacity? Hmmmmm

Interesting theory but I’m not sure. Ford might be limiting sale orders of ‘26’s due to 10K+ cars already in dealer inventory. Also remember that this is not the high time for sales of new sports cars.

Per Cars.com
2025 - 5600
2026 - 4400

Here are mustang sales figures for Europe from year 2000 to 2022 taken from GoodCarBadCar web site. Over that time span 12 years about 85,000 mustangs were sold there. That is about an average of ~7K+ cars per year. In Canada over the same time span ~63K cars were sold. Yes, these are small figures compare to USA yearly sales, but they help Ford keep making the vehicle for us all to enjoy!
