I have no clue how that works or what it does. So what's the purpose of doing that?

And who is the hotspot for who?
The car sharing internet with your phone or your phone sharing the internet with your car?

I don't think I have this. The only thing my car does it connect my phone through wifi for Android Auto.
Basically, you are paying for an internet connection in your car (as you would at home). Any device with wi-fi can then connect to the internet through the car.

Ah that makes it clear. And that's why I don't have it since it's controlled in the TCU and my car is importee, so my car can't connect to the Canadian network since i'm outside of Canada.

GCC cars have the same thing. Their region did not provide this option. So the only way to do it is to change the TCU and add a sim subsceiption that connects to the regions network.
