I don't wish to start a battle front, but something has been bugging me for some time. To wit...

I see all sorts of interior and exterior modifications being discussed among all of the forum topic areas. Like tires and rims, seat changes, lighting, adding, subtracting, you name it. All of this sort of thing costs money, when in reality it would be somewhat cheaper ordering the equipment you want, up front! Like buying a Premium model, instead of the plain Jane one. If you're buying from dealer stock, your choice might be limited... from them! However, most dealers (mine did) will look around at other dealers' stock and find exactly what you want, or very close to it. Further, if you don't like the OEM tires and rims on your choice of models, most dealers will give you a better deal than your average tire store.

Some of the complaints are indeed buyer's remorse setting in, and I do realize that fact. Some of the modding is done to make the vehicle yours! I also applaud that fact. In my case, I needed a vehicle right now (my Ranger got smacked), and "I" knew what I wanted after spending an hour or so on line.

So the question remains, why not order what you want, instead of spending much more in the long run adding bling?
I was going to order and ended up settling for a mostly what I wanted ‘25 due to cost- I had $11k in negative equity and the discount / rebate was so good that with 3k down I financed right at MSRP, so was at 100% LTV.

$7-8k off with rebate and they included Katzkin Leather on top of that.

what did I miss out on?

Mainly magneride, pony nite package, and my preferred colors.

Wanted PP, Active Exhaust, and they found a red one 600 miles away… just got delivered to my dealer last night…

so here she is…

Financing is the "option" dealers most like to sell, perhaps the most. Selling a car just enables them to do that. It's the option, if it is one, that they make the most profit from. Most people do that due to emotion that probably took place along time ago......the lack discipline to do without for a little so that later on, one doesn't ever have to do that again.

We financed one car, made payments to ourselves on the next car and when that time came around, there was not expensive financing to have to deal with while saving for the next car again. Pretty soon, at a young age, we never financed anything again. Lack of debt opens one up to buy the most options for the least money. One just has to understand the word "no" to the dealer and oneself as well as ditching instant gratification now and then.

The real gratification is walking into the finance office and just writing a check. That's what makes the car much more enjoyable. I own it. If I ever realize my job doesn't pay me enough to live that way, it's time for another job too. That's another way of saying, "I really can't afford to buy what I want." People don't like to deal with things like this but most people live for today (not all bad) but never plan even five years ahead. So, there's another way to own options for yourself.
