Texas requires front and back. It is technically illegal to have it in the front windshield here and people do it all the time. Officers are probably more lenient with their discretion of the law (not giving a ticket) than not having it at all.

The car will come with a factory front license plate bracket, but that requires two holes to be drilled. I would just like to not drill holes inviting some corrosion or lack of appeal when I resell it, possibly in a state that doesn't require a front plate.
Would it be possible to use black nylon ties on one of the 2 grills?

Not the look would be going for. Would rather drill two holes in the bumper.

If there was a clean solution that was grill only there are at least a few of issues.
  1. Bottom Grill
    1. Has a sensor in the center
    2. Doesn't look tall enough to put a plate against the grill.
  2. Top grill
    1. Doesn't look like their would be enough room on flat grill space to do this.
    2. Reduced air flow for cooling (25%ish)

Canada requires plates front and back. If no bracket in the US why not just put it inside center of windshield.
Only 3 provinces do. Ontario, BC, and Manitoba. The rest only have one plate.

Ontario wanted to scrap the front years ago but the police complained it would be harder to fight crime so it was dropped for now.

Having it in the windshield on the inside is no different than having no plate in the front.
Its an improper location and will get you a ticket all the same.
Luckily for the most part, cops haven't been on the hunt lately dinging people.
Even a clear cover, surround, etc, can get you a ticket as an obstruction if they so feel.

I believe Quebec is the only Province I know of.
No, lots of provinces do not require front plates. In NL they are not required either. I had to have holes drilled in my suv when I moved to Ontario. Do not want it to happen to my mustang. We might just hope we don't get a ticket.

Hey I just got the video up! Still kinda new to YouTube but I showed the process and everything you need!

here’s the link for The video:

Nice work. I like your ingenuity on how you did that. That's a different idea than the traditional way I was trying to mount it.

Thanks man! I did this on my last one and it worked perfectly so I just did the same thing here. You can even add an extra self tapping screw for extra support but even going 150km/h this won’t move!
What was the way you were doing it ?

Great video, very informative.
Would you be kind enough to measure this dimension please?

I was thinking of doing the tow hook license plate or using something like Craig's custom brackets / sho and sto with a little custom bubble gum engineering.

Solid video dude. You really thought it through. I might have to do this if I can't get away with no plate at all

It’s about 5.5-6 inches I just measured before I left this morning.
