I'm sure we've all perused the brochure released by Ford (of Australia) officially released last Thursday.
https://www.ford.com.au/content/ford/au/en_au/site-wide-content/overlays/forms/download-brochure/

Ignoring the drop in power :curse:, what other differences with the US spec GT have you spotted with the MY24 GT?

You may remember there was a RHD GT in Yellow Splash on display in Melbourne back in August.

My eyes immediately went to the strut tower brace, but it looks like this never made the cut for the AU specification.
Not surprised, just disappointed, considering the extortionate MLP (Manufacturer's List Price).

The mirror-mounted USB port is mentioned with the Wireless Charging Pad in the US spec.

But not in the AU spec.

Looks like we'll need a hard-wire kit for our dash cams!

And, as a bonus slap in the MLP face, AU also gets the mandatory Torsen diff and rear wing spoiler "delete". :frown:

I'm not sure about the K-Brace, upsized sway bar, or front springs.
Anyone?

It's a joke what we are getting. Dark Horse is $20K more than what the Mach 1 was and we get a watered down version, with only 2kW more than the regular GT. Plus the GT I heard Chaz Mostert looking at, you can hardly hear it it is that muffled. Handbrake on the wrong side as well as the starter button, WTF was Ford Australia thinking. Cancelling my Dark Horse order.

Looks like mirror USB is included. Found this on the Ford AU features page:

Charge on the go
Wireless phone charging3 is as simple as placing your device on the central pad and forgetting all about it. Behind the rear-view mirror, a USB port is ready to keep a dash camera charged, so you don’t miss a single second of track or street action.

It's interesting the you can download a pdf brochure. Is that available on North American Ford sites?

Might also be worth listing what hasn't changed between the S550 and S650 as a comparison.

I've had a go below, any mistakes let me know and I'll edit the post.

  • Chassis - 90% same as S550 depending on whether we get some of the US PP goodies.
  • Engine - 90% same as S550 (except intake and exhaust, internally its the same).
  • Gearbox - same Getrag as the S550 that has known issues.
  • Suspension - same, S650 and S550, parts will be interchangeable.
  • Steering - 98% same as S550 (US GT PP2 versions get the Mach 1 rack), 16 vs 15.5 ratio
  • Brakes - 95% same as S550 in rotor dia. Area increased by 18% and 30% F/R
  • Wheels - same as S550 judging by the builder.
  • Appearance pack - same
  • Black pack - same
  • Seats - same?
  • Turning circle - slightly smaller but who cares - 12.2 vs 11.5
  • Weight - 95% same, S650 is about 5% heavier

Its sad but amusing to read the above and realise that the 18% price hike is for new panels and interior that has the brake, start button, and cup holders on the wrong side of the console.

Did they bother moving the steering wheel and pedals?

Is the performance pack available for you folks down under? That should include the k-brace.

Chassis - watch the following video (even if it is mostly annoying wobble-cam) and you'll see that quite a lot of subtle changes have been made underneath.

Steering - torsionally stiffer, and rack ratio is quicker.
Video cued at 10:29

And remember TH is a Camaro fanboy, and has never liked the Mustang steering.

Wheels - weren't the standard S550 GT wheels black?
GT gets Carbonised grey (notice they changed the 'Merican Z to S and A to an E!)

Sort of.
We have very limited options down under. :lipssealed:
What we get is basically the GT Premium minus a few things.

But don't stir the pot!
I am so jealous we cannot order the space grey interior.
Would look great with Oxford White.

RIghto I'll update to 90% same. The one in the vid has the US performance package as it has the Mach 1 steering. I don't think we get any of the US PP bits (except Magneride as an option)

There are a lot of errors there - here are some corrections:

In addition we finally get BLIS and Sequential Indicators, and the Navigation is now where it should always have been - swapped places with the high mounted air vents - so it is actually now visible - without running off the road..

Updated my post. My point is that Its fundamentally the same car in different clothes and IMO not worth a 12k price hike.

I agree, it really is stretching it to call it a new Gen, just a number of relatively minor improvements. Although for us in Aus we only Gain 8 Kw and are Down 6 Nm Torque from the previous 2018-23 FN - AND it has gained 96 Kg.

Nothing a new after market exhaust manifold won't fix! 😉

True. After-market headers would be good. Might olso be able to pick up a set of FN headers from a wrecker - but then there is the slight issue of fitting them...

I wonder if FoA also changed the mufflers or centre resonator?

It would be good to confirm exactly what was changed, and why.

It seems strange as the host US car had been hit with compliance with Bidens tougher new "Green" laws, which should have closed the HP/Tq Gap to ours, however the gap significantly worsened! I wonder if someone somewhere stuffed-up ?

That could never happen!
Right? !!!

Tongue in cheek - remembering the Mach 1 debacle a few years ago.
