We have to get to a point where the first reaction of American citizens is not to hide and pretend not to have arms.

Otherwise, for future generations the rights we enjoy today will be like the hidden millions of unregistered war trophy machine guns hidden in the attics of baby boomers across the nation.

You hear they exist. You may even know a friend or relative with one, but it is discussed in hushed whispers, and there is no organization or ability ever to coordinate using them if for some reason it became a necessity to do so. They can't even train with them.

Our nation's Founders did not hide their arms. They had them in their homes and stacked more of them up in local militia armories and trained and drilled with them. On April 19, 1775, when General Gage sent a detachment out under Lt. Col Smith to search, seize, and destroy arms, the colonists started fighting rather then surrender them, eight of them dying right away, ten wounded. Several hours later, the rebellious colonists regrouped with about 400 armed men, and successfully attacked a smaller detachment of 100 regular government troops who had to retreat back to the main force.

Everybody knows what happened from there. The government burned a few buildings but generally failed in their mission and had to retreat under constant fire from armed colonists, all the way back to Boston, where they were soon surrounded by 15,000 pissed off, armed colonists. The government troops were then stuck in Boston and besieged for the next year, until 11 months later they managed to evacuate. <--- By the way, the Declaration of Independence still had not been created and would not be until four more months after that evacuation.

That sort of coordinated response against the government could never be accomplished by a citizenry so scared of the government that it has to pretend fearfully that it has no guns.

Just one more. We've just reintroduced gun registration after many years. I didn't mind it when I was 16 and all records were written and stored securely. Now it's in some Police data centre and their security is total BS. Like a shopping centre for gangs to get gun owners addresses.
So, I'm resisting as long as I can.
