I believe many ordered a GT without the PP as I did.

OEM PP - $4995
  • Brakes: The Brembo brake upgrade is good value for money, but I wasn't sure of the rest. I am certain I'll never need a "drift" brake.

  • Wheels: 9F/9.5R wheels that seem cast and heavy (est. 30+ lbs?) Won't allow larger tires

  • Tires: Not much tire for a 4000lb 500hp car at 255/275. Summer only kinda useless for colder climates (like Canada). The 275/40 19 tires is pretty tall at 27.7" tall. 2.6% taller.

  • Rear Axle: The 3.73 is negated by the larger rear tire to its effectively 3.63. Torsen is better? Will notice the difference vs LS?

  • Suspension: Ride height seems identical, only says "HD front springs", K-brace, Strut towers.
  • Only rear sway bar thicker. Struts seem to be the same?

Proposing:

  • Tires: 275/35 19 square, Michelin AS, 26.6 inch tall ($1200) These are actually closer to the standard 27" tires.

  • Wheels: Flow formed 9.5~10.5 inch wheels (many options available at 23~26lbs, $1200~1500).

  • Rear Axle: LS but with slight shorter tires, the effective 3.55 becomes 3.62 which is = to the PP with 275/40.

  • K-Brace: $few hundred

  • Strut tower brace: $300 DIY job I believe.

  • Suspension: 3x Ford permeance options (I was told will not void warranty):
    • 1inch drop springs ~ $600 total
    • FP street performance: 4 lower springs, thicker sway, 4x struts ~ $1500
    • FP Track performance: 4 lower springs, thicker sway, 4x struts ~ $2000

Plus you are left with a set of 4 x wheels + 4x tires that can be spares, winter, or sold.

The brakes are good value, that leave you with a saving of: USD $3,300

The Ford Performance fully upgraded suspension should be more potent + 1inch lower.
3 flavors to pick from.

You won't save anything but the upsides are:

Better/wider tires
Fully upgraded suspension
Better looks (in my opinion)
Light, wider wheels
More unique given its personalized

I got the Brembos on their own without the PP.

I'm pretty sure the Bremnos are included with the PP.

That's what I did.
That is a pretty big job to do on your own later.

I deleted the rear spoiler as well.

Its cosmetic (ugly in my opinion) and doubt will generate any meaningful downforce from 0 to 80MPH.
At 100MPH if it generated 50lbs, you won't feel it on a 3900lb car.

Who are we trying to kid, its not a racecar. That GTD spoiler is what you need for rear downforce.

DH without spoiler

Car looks a lot cleaner and lower.
The width is emphasized a lot more.

The only reason I did the PP1 on my last Mustang was because of the gauges in the middle of the dash- I really liked the way the interior looked much better.......

If I was to buy a GT today- I would save the 5K..not get the PP and do wheels/ tires/ suspension mods - just would order with the lower (numerically higher) gear ratio though

I just ordered the brakes and will do the rest to my spec.

Unfortunately, it seems you can't opt for the 3.73 on the manuals and that is bundled with the PP.
The 3.73 or 4.09 rind and pinion are available at Ford performance for $300 and takes a few hundred to install.

However, the Ford Performance authorized workshop didn't know what to do about the speedo and poible rev match software once you change that ratio.
Its still too new, I suppose Ford will offer a software update at some point.

Question on the spoiler. When I purchased my '16 non-PP I opted to have the regular spoiler deleted. Then a few years later, I had a friend install the GT350 Track Pack spoiler. Watching him drill the holes needed to install the spoiler had me cringing. Is the regular blade spoiler just stuck on with 3m tape or will it also have the drilled holes if I decide to add an OEM/aftermarket spoiler after the fact? I want some kind of spoiler on the car but I too think I'm going to skip the PP and just get the brakes as an option. As the member stated, I will most likely get my own wheels/tires and probably get some sort of FP suspension bits along with the strut tower/k-brace.
