I used the orginal trim ring, but with the grill. Also, the Pioneer bolt holes line up better than Redline. With Pioneer, I was able to use stock holes by just longating holes. With Redline, only 2 line up, other 6 have to be drilled into box in new location.

Couple of questions:
1) For those of you who initially used the Pioneer 10 in and then switched to a more sensitive speaker, did you notice a difference in sub volume?
2) Sofa King, Where did you get the spacer ring? Which product?

I would guess that as carrful as you can be, that some number of pins will break. If you push the pin from the side, it should release the trim ring easier. If your not going to reuse the stock grill, it doesn't matter. I located the trim ring on the speaker with double sided tape and then the metal grill screws over top of it.
