Mustang gt convertible G90 Genesis SC430 Lexus Honda Ridgeline
It is amazing what the new technology can do. Currently in my stable are a Genesis G90 5lt, Honda Ridgeline, Lexus Sc430 and an Lexus RX330. Lots of similarities and differences. Two have acc that are very easy to change modes while driving. Mustang has voice controls the others don't. Really like that. Two have distance warning in the front and rear. Why the Mustang only on the rear? All have power seat with power back. Why not Mustang? Mirrors dip in reverse. Why not Mustang? I worked around that by setting up one seat setting with both mirrors pointing down. On my first fuel up I couldn't find the fuel door release. I pulled away from the pump and checked the onboard manual. I couldn't find any mention of a release button. I fooled around with the door and when I pushed it it pooped open. There is a fill just like the Honda but with out a locking mechanism. I haven't tried to program the garage door opener yet. The RX330 worked perfectly, never could get the Honda or Genesis to work. I hope it will be easy to program.
I bought the car because I wanted a Grand Touring convertible. It has performed quite well. It has been getting better gas milage than the SC430 with an extra 180 hp to boot. There aren't many GT convertibles with a v8, only Lexus LC500, way too expensive. There are a lot of Geman models. My experiences with German has been less than bad. That only left Mustang and Corvette. Too tight of a fit for me in the vette. The Mustang won out. Plenty of room, a back for essentials and a trunk that stays the same size with the top down as opposed to the SC430. I never planned on a track day or improving performance in any way. It's main use will be seeing the sites and smelling cut grass and road kills on weekend road trips.
I ran into a problem this last weekend. I tried to set up a navigation destination. I spoke the destination several times and the results were pathetic. I spoke the st number , st name and city. Nav didn't come any where close. I tried city only and that was found. It screwed up only once by taking me two exits passed where I needed to get off the interstate.
This is where things got messed up. I left home after I orally promgrammed navigation the city to go to. I noticed stereo was playing the same song over again. I use the usb function, don't need any of the internet stuff. I currently use my thumb drive with just shy of 2800 songs, just my favorites. I pulled over and began pushing buttons. I pulled the drive and reinstalled, same problem. I got into menus and found a category list, pushed it all the music showed up. I didn't have to listen to The Weight all day. The navigation voice has disappeared. Turned on voice and tones, raised the volume. Still no luck. It must be muted. I just have to figure out how to unite. This thing won't allow me to type u n m u t e.
All in all the Mustang has been working out just fine. It's a much better car than my first new car a 1965 Mustang, 120 hp six, three by the knee, AM radio manual steering and brakes, $2400. I wouldn't want it back. A glorified Falcon. The cost of the 65 wouldn't cover the state and local taxes of the new one.

Great stream of consciouness. A refreshing change from streams of unconsciouness.
I think the reason for the manual seat back operation is to make it quicker, and easier for the dwarf, or amputee, in the back seat to fold it forward.
I think it's pretty handy to get to the normal things I take with me and put back there but otherwise, no, only dwarfs can sit back there. The tiny seats act as a good sound insulator too.

When I take passengers I use the G90 Ultimate. There is lots of room back there. They can watch movies on the two screens, have separate climate controls, adjustable seats, powered window privacy screens, stereo controls and more. The G90 Ultimate is down on power compared to the Mustang. It only has 420 hp. The problem with the G90 Ultimate is the top doesn't go down.

You have a SC430 and have complaints about the Mustang?

The SC430 is one of the worst cars ever made

It tries to be a lot of things and does none of them well

Top Gear said it was the worst car ever made

Thanks for the laugh,
Yes you are correct, manual seat back is so you can pull lever on the back of seat on some can get back there. Why anyone would want to is another question with no answer. On the other things either Ford didn't think of it or was cutting cost. I like the mirror idea and alt seat button.
One think that drives me nuts is the seatbelt on the vert goes threw the bracket on the seat, but if you have easy out enabled then the belt does not feed! Seat is actually behind the part of the trim the belt comes out of. Stupid. And if passengers seat is back they have same problem.

I'm enjoying the car. I have been driving Japanese, German and Korean since the seventies. My first new car was a 1965 Mustang. Now I'm back where I started from. I'm noticing the differences. The 2004 SC430 works great. Just punch in the destination and it takes you there. Honda works good to. The G90 is bad, very akward to use. The voice operated sounds good, it couldn't find the address. The dipping mirrors and cruise mode control could be fixed with a couple lines of code.
I mentioned the seat backs because I keep my oxygen concentrator on the rear seat. The SC430 has a lever to pull it up back flips forward, when I get done just push it back and it locks just the way it was.
The Brits refer to it as the worst car ever made. Obviously they were kidding. They know and tested the Trabant and the Robin. The Tabant was the East German two stroker. The Robin was the three wheeler that kept rolling over. Check comparison tests and see how SC430 really performs. It is a GT built for comfort on long distant drives not for track days. It has all of the bells and whistles that a 2004 car had.
I owned two candidates for worst car ever made number one Opel Kadett Rally. It had an 1100cc four with two one barrel carbs. It had no choke only a knob that said choke but did nothing. Parts constantly fell off of it. It had a leaf spring front suspension and coil springs in the rear. Pontiac Tempest, what became the GTO. I had one. Not exactly a GTO. It had a 389, well not exactly, it was half of a 389, a slant four. They balanced the weight by putting the trans in the rear. The Trans they picked wasn't so great. It was a two speed out of a Corvair. That is my pick of the worst car ever made, with the Opel a close second.
About half of the time when I'm getting gas I will get a compliment on my 21 year old SC430. I drive them both cars and enjoy them the same.

The thing with Top Gear, and Clarkson, was that it wasn't a really car show for petrolheads.
I remember Clarkson ranting about the Ferrari he was driving didn't show the speedo when you were using Sat Nav, he went on and on, while we could clearly see the digital speed display right in front of him.

As for the media and car ratings, consider that Motor Trend, named the Renault Alliance car of the year in 1983 and the 1974 Mustang II car of the year in 1974.

Two of the worst cars in history.

From a performance standpoint, the Lexus SC430 was a massive turd conpared to the other cars in its class and definately earned its poor reputation.

Clarkson was right about exactly one thing:

The Toyota prius has no redeeming qualities.

The Prius make for good road blocks, that's about it.
